Hello everyone, before i go sleep or when i have nothing to do i like you watch airsoft tech videos. Upgrading guns and more, the channels i watch mostly are Blind Sniper, Airsoft after hours, i dont really like game play videos. And i always run out of stuff to watch. So here comes the question what airsoft tech youtubers you watch? Airsoft is the stuff that interests me and i can learn some useful stuff as well. I dont like channels that spend huge money, to buy parts and just put them in i enjoy more of DYI kind videos

For a long period on this forum whenever someone asked should I buy this part I would ask them why are they looking at the part, what's wrong with the current one?

Way to many people just follow online builds for snipers and buy identical parts without knowing what they do better than stock or even if they are.

How many vsr's out on the fields are AA hop chamber, crazy jet barrel and an m150 (plus triggers etc) and the owner has no idea why just chucked money at the parts people told them to get, eventually share that knowledge enough and people don't know why. (Not saying it's a bad build)

So many people on here and other places asking if they should buy x part just because someone else did.
I mean yeh that is true. Like not everything has to be replaced in an airsoft replicas. Most AEGs just need a reshim, relube, a new hop up rubber and nub and you have a pretty good replica allready without spending much. Stock parts are often good enough for a basic assault rifle.

If you are pushing the max of replicas tho like BASR and DMR you do need to spend a bit more. Mainly time but also money.
In more recent times, I find myself trying to get as much from as little as possible. I can tell you that Negative definitely does unnecessary work, as we all do from time to time, but things like nozzle replacements are almost always simply a waste.

He also purports using a shorter than normal spec nozzle...
I thought he was talking about that some combos need to use a slightly shorter nozzle than standard M4, and sometimes the taper on the outside comes into play as well? I know that there are two lengths of nozzle for M4/M16's. I also know that different hopups can have slightly different distances to the bucking lips, I have had a friend that needed a different nozzle length for his CYMA SR25 after he installed a MAXX hop. I can totally see with all of the parts swapping, and the lack of dimensional consistency for "Marui" clone M4/M16's, that a shorter/longer nozzle may need to be used from time to time, same with the nozzle tapers.

I certainly do what could be considered unnecessary things to my AEG's (I did polish the entire inside and outside of one of my gearboxes). I will say that I have noticed improvements in consistency and power by installing a nozzle with an o-ring for many of my replicas, especially when using heavier BBs.

Ron, the way you are going about it is certainly the best practice.

There are far too many people that think throwing the maximum amount of money, at the flashiest thing is going to make their replica be the airsoft equivalent of the sword Excalibur.

The right part should be the one that is works best for the application someone intends to use the system for.

To be honest, I haven't watched his nozzle video in recent memory--folks over on ASFUK (don't pronounce that out loud), were telling me the other day that he recommends a 21.00mm nozzle for all "regular" AEGs, rather than the 21.4mm standard.

Fitment to individual setups is, of course, paramount. The Maxx adjustable nozzle is a great product in my opinion, for this reason. In my personal testing, the adjustable seems to verify that 21.4 is the correct length for most hop rubbers, but that is of course just in my personal use and experience.

A lot of "modern" hop rubbers seem to have very long/thick lips relative to legacy rubbers like the TM original, PDI, etc.

Yeh Neg claims the 21 mm nozzle works for everyrhing. While that is simply not true. Nozzles can be a bit finnicky in general. Like with my JG sig i had some feeding issues after replacing the hop up rubber. The fix was simply going from a 22.3 mm nozzle to a 22.4mm nozzle and now it feeds wonderfully.

But really airsoft parts have such different tolerances between all of them that sometimes is not possible to have drop in parts that always do the same thing.

Like negative now also offers a pom piston head that supossedly corrects AOE. But it fully depends on the cylinder head as well if it does correctly correct AOE.
This is why adjustable nozzles seem like such a good idea to me, as I bet that there's serious enough differences from gun to gun from the same company.

Yeh adjustable nozzles are really nice for this, albeit what I would personally do if I had one is to test which lenght works best and then order a normal nozzle of the same size.

Welcome to forum life... the good parts of it, at least.

I have a little box of plastic nozzle in all sizes and types--If I'm having trouble finding a fit, I'll the use the Maxx, and then file a plastic one to size.
