With all due respect, Jake asked a question a few hours ago, and instead of making a new thread for it he asked the question on a relevant thread. I merely answered the question, which isn't really necro posting. Nor was he necro posting, he simply asked a question. He could've made a new thread for that but stuff like that is exactly what makes forums chaotic. So if anything, this is a good thing, no?
Necro posting is giving an answer to a question asked three years ago :hehe:

Yes and no. Yes its a good thing, but at the same time its still necro posting however you look at it, question or not. You points are valid, and it would be quite different if it were in a sticky, or even a fairly recent one, but it's not.
Ultimately as you can see I let it slide and only used verbal warnings. I am using this to show I plan on enforcing the forum rules a bit better then my brother Mods currently choose to.
It's been a while sense the waters got rough around here and I fear that may change soon. I am using this as an opportunity to reinforce the lines and help curb the inevitable storm that will eventually come.
To be fair though, I only saw the post dates and went "god damn it!" and did not fully read the posts.
To answer the question though, yes tapeing the barrel directly is perfectly fine.
