Bought this gun a year or two ago and have actually skirmished it.
So this is a full on player review.

Rear monopod can be fine tuned, front bipod is spring retractable.

Comparison with Marui PSG-1, CA SL8 and Maruzen APS-2 SV
(As you can see, same barrel length with the PSG-1 but over all is much shoulder)

First impression.....
OMG, finally got the gun....
Damn...this thing is a beast....
Nice build quality, very solid, zero wobble.

Lots of adjustable features.
Bipod & rear monopod
Cheek rest
Shoulder pad can move up/down and slides forward/backward

Now to the details.....
14mm CW threading, kinda annoy.
Gas powered (duh)
Adjustable Hop-up (AEG bucking and barrel)
590mm TBB (6.01 or 6.03, not sure)

Chrono'd with Green gas and KSC .20, 550fps in the summer, 450fps in winter (Southern CA)

Stock CTC
70 feet
Crouching, no support, mild to no wind
24mm using Madbull .40g, not selected nor washed.

Fielding experience.
Although the DSR-1 is somewhat heavy, it's really compact.
Same length as an M4A1 with stock extended.
Which allows you to go around easily yet have a long barrel
Easily reach out beyond 200 feet.

The top mounted bipod helps a lot.
The weight of the rifle hangs under it instead of being carried on top of it.
This allow the rifle to balance itself on top.

The gun itself holds TWO magazine.
The one in the rear is the feeding mag and the one on the front is for back up.
You can change the mag fairly easily and fast.
The mag release(s) are the two pieces of metal on the side of the mag.
So all you do is grab and pull, easy right?

Summary-
Pros:
Comes with two magazines and all the accessories that you need to play.
Great accuracy and range.
Uses AEG barrel and bucking
590mm inner barrel length in a small package
Top mounted bipod
Great build quality
It's a DSR-1.

Cons:
Might be heavy for some players
Gas powered (hint hint HPA)
Magazines are EXPENSIVE, but eh, comes with two mags.

Edi you know me.... I can't say it well built!
I've lost the round bipod end and the 2 pins from the magazine in the first skirmish!

It leaked pretty bad from the seal between mag/bolt, the leaking gas could move my hair!! Anyway this is now fixed and it was an easy fix that gave me 140fps!!

The othe bad about it is the company itself, I contacted them to ask them if I could buy replacement parts directly from them. They replied to my first emal and the asked my address to give me shipping cost and from that point never replies to the other 178 e-mails I sent them!!!
This can't be done by a serious company!
It's not hard to replicate the bipod part but I wanted to be the same with the other leg, nor it's hard to find a couple of pins.

Anyway this is my experience with it, many from this forum knows it.

Yea I know.
But that really is the only V2 that I've heard to have problems like that.
The only time that I've head of that kind of problems was with the V1.
Plus did you contact the store that you purchased from?

Stop it!!! Tell me bad things about this gun! I don't want to have to buy it. Ill put myself on the streets. GRRR. Very solid collection there. But I preferred what Wolf had to say about the gun.... He is saving me money lol

Can you consider resizing the pictures to something smaller? It's kind of annoying having to zoom out to view the pictures then back in to read text.

Seriously my experience with Ares guns and Ares the company was not the best.
I do currently own 3 Ares sniper rifles, all 3 have their issues!

I could never get mine to shoot well, so I sold it off. I loved the look of the rifle though.

The one issue that I forgot to mention is the trigger pull.....
It's a long pull and what? Around 5lbs?.....
Cut the trigger spring and solved the problem
Thinking about putting a spacer to make the trigger travel distance shorter.

Quick question. Mine would sometimes shoot at an insanely LOW FPS after a fresh propane fill, kinda like it had too much pressure in the mag and the striker spring was too weak. Did your ever do this? Once I let a bit of gas out, the FPS would rise back up. I don't actually own the rifle anymore, but I've always been curious about it.

I never had any issues as far as performance goes.

The solution is to get the stiffer striker spring, how to do that..... Buy the CO2 mag, the striker spring is in the package!

I haven't fired mine since last November, after I lost the parts, and I didn't have the lower fps after fill.
This is a common problem to many Tanaka M700 with the stock spring. Though the gun I own doesn't do that, perhaps it has stiffer striker spring and the previous owner forgot to tell me.

Hello, I registered recently, I am glad to see that there are people who gives you a vote of confidence to this precision rifle, since the day I bought not long ago and i am very happy with it but I'm a little inexperienced and there are things that escape me, and I would like if you could help me to clarify some doubts i have, first of all thank you for reading, and sorry for my terrible english.

This rifle broken down easily?
What type of care would you recommend for this type of rifle?
It is possible to get spare parts even knowing that ARES does not pass through a good time?
The part that scares me more, the lock, it is possible to get a replacement if broke?

Well toy can't take it down, the only that's removable is the stock.

Basically you need to clean the bucking of greases/oil but that's pretty long procedure since you need to unscrew a million screws! Keep a bit of gas in the mags just to keep tension a the o-rings, check all screws to see if they are tight.
Nope there are no spare parts available except the Shooters O-ring set. Ares is a very bad company in terms of customer service, I ordered some parts from them and it took them over a year to sent them and a couple thousands e-mails!

Basically the easiest to break is the bipod! I've seen a couple broken, but then you can use the under barrel rail to install a regular bipod. I'll probably remove the bipod and the moving piece under the barrel to lighten it up a bit so I can move around easier.
