I picked it up "used". 2 LiPo batteries, 5 mags and a suppressor for around $300-$350 if I remember. As far as I could tell it was barely used at all.

I purchased a KJ Works Mk1 yesterday. When it arrives, I will remove the outer barrel and put on a silencer. So it should be pretty similar to a Mk23 but not so bulky. It will have higher fps than the Mk23 but I will downgrade it a little.
I need this for stealth kills. I already carry a very light M4 as a side arm but I would like to also have an option where if needed, I can take out a person without giving my position away. (I do have a Mk23 but I let my son use it)

got a new toy named AAP-01 with the extended mag seams to do what i was looking for pretty decent. since no moving components in slight and barrel accuracy is good. i dont like spray and pray doctrine, i prefer to hit with first bb, that way i make less noise and have more bb if i need to go full auto.

Also rocking an AAP-01. I haven't felt the need to add a lot of upgrades so it's simply got the CNC chamber (purchased before the Hadron Liki arrived) a 6.03mm 129mm long barrel, and an MR bucking + Omega nub. I have trouble keeping it below the UK standard 350 fps .2g/Equivalent for pistols but it's a nice option for when the Mk23 doesn't come out to play. If I'm feeling REALLy frisky I use an MP5k with 12:1 gears, high-speed motor, short-stroked piston, and the usual assorted other AEG stuff. Kept it to around 300fps but it is a great option for portability and firepower....just needs a tight bore to keep the grouping acceptable, perhaps to add a little fps without any extra internal stress.

I like flexibility so the AAP is very likely going to be a semi-permanent companion as it does afford you a lot of extra weight on the field for a very tiny weight addition.In fact, aside from the known trigger issues, the biggest problem (IMO) is the stock muzzle flip! I added a substantial muzzle device to offset that particular problem and it's now far more controllable.

AEP's can easily be upgraded to 250fps with 0.2g. Using mine with 0.25g. 25-30m is no problem. Hicaps are fine, but are protuding in a holster.

Well, it was suprisingly easy: I used the aluminum nozzle from FPS because I killed the plastic one and a j-tac spring. That brought the energy up to 0.58J. I'm using the stock bucking with a custom made aluminum lever. Accuracy is nice: 20cm diameter @25m. Lipo and mosfet is mandatory IMO. Hope that helps.
Has been used for 1.000 rounds up to now without anny issues.

I think that with R-hop, a decent nub, and a 5.98 or 6.00 barrel you could get decent power.

I got an AEP up to 280fps but it had major feeding issues. At 266fps I had to do a fair bit of work and on the odd occasion it still had feeding issues.

-Chronoed gun new = 170fps
-Put new bearings in (Aliexpress)
-Put new motor in (Aliexpress)
-Put home made spring = 195fps
-Put in new o-rings = 210fps
-Put in home made 6.00mm tight bore = 235fps
-Made new air nozzle spring guide = 255fps
-Added pen spring to air nozzle spring guide = 260fps
-Dental Floss around entrance of bucking 266fps

Most people struggle to get above 220fps.

More can be had out of an AEP for sure, but you're sort of splitting hairs and making the gun less reliable at a point.
Not to say that I don't like splitting hairs, that's all I do these days lol.

There's a tuner in the UK (Kingdom of Airsoft) that does some insane mods on AEPs, but as noted, the damn things are subject to diminishing returns - I think he was claiming over 300fps and throwing a .36 over 60m but the sheer work involved......and the parts list was ridiculous. For that outlay (both financially and in terms of time invested) I'd just go with a GBB of some kind.

Yeah, the temperature thing isn't as big of an issue as people say, as that's why Propelene/MAPP, red gas, black gas, and CO2 exist, to deal with lower temps.
AEPs are cool enough, but the only AEP I'd want would be an MP7 with a WOLF engine in it.

My AAP is ridiculously efficient for a GBB, and whilst we haven't hit colder temperatures in the UK yet, I doubt I'll need to worry about it not functioning - which was certainly a problem for some replicas in years past! I used to keep my GBB in a pocket with a handwarmer years ago......these days the buckings and systems are so much more advanced.

tip: if is too cold for aap to be use just stick a heating pad on pistol grip. well if you have and extended mag you could stick it on extension , after that you should be good for 2-3 hour

You can actually buy heated mag pouches! I have tried using heat pads, they work to an extent, but cold weather still + mag cool down is still a crippling combination. My old Tanaka revolver was the best for converting that 👍
