This was a while back (February I think) but since I'm new here, I might as well post my paintjob. It looks a bit more worn down now, but I haven't added anything to it since I painted it.

The Prep job:

Tell me what you think! PS, in the first completed paintjob pic I took, the camera had it's flash on. It's not really that bright.

Wow! it looks really good, did you just paint right over the body, or did you sand it first?
Heh, nope. Right over the body. Thats probably whi its peeling back and wearing out where I place my hands.
It's truly beautiful. I really wish I had talent like that.
Um... no talent required. Heck if I can do it... Heres what I did. I taped it all up, spraypainted the enitre thing tan (Krylon camoflage paint was used). Then, I went over and almost tiger striped the OD green on there. Then once that dried, I gave it a light dusting of the Brown, and then painted brown in spots that looked empty to me. Piece 'o' cake.

I like the peeled look here and there. Gives the rifle some character.
well that does seem pretty simple, and I will try it some time, but i would like to add in some tall grassy patterns too, do you know how to do that?
you could always put some stippling over it to hide the peeling.

Yeah, easy. You just put either real or fake grass on top of your rifle and spray paint darker colors over it. Whenever you remove the grass, you have a light grass patten on your rifle. I think if i ever re-paint my gun I will do this...

But like fuzzywolly said, it does give it some character that I like.
I inadvertently had some of that on my ASR, but one thing that you can do to prevent it (at least where you dont want it) is to spray the parts with break cleaner and use gloves when handling it after. The break cleaner takes off all of the oils from the grease and your hands. all in all a great job though!

what did you use to mask off your scope? I was tempted to mask mine a little better, but it turned out ok i guess. (i have mine posted in this forum as well)
The whole thing was masked off with layers of standard blue painter's tape. It tokk a bit to do, but it turned out good. I just had to mark off the lenses, and the numbers on the adjustment dial.

Hey man the gun looks good! I'm more than likely going to get a Bar-10 soon, and this paintjob looks like something I might do. Just a question though, how did you paint the scope? I'm afraid that if I try this first without asking, I might screw it up.
