i have a bar 10 i got on trade and the gun doesnt lock the piston back. so im thinking seer set right? nope i just installed a new seer set in it and it still will not hold the piston back it seems like it barely engages. are there any other common problems with these rifles?? everything looks like it should work but nothing is working and im frustrated and dont know what else to do. hope you guys can help.

thanks

Is the piston upgraded?
If so you could have the infamous 90deg piston matched with the 45deg seer or vice versa.

An please try and cap your I's, thanks.
Pretty much explains it I think ^^. And please make an intro post before the mods catch you!

First make an into. Are you sure the trig-mech is screwed tight onto the reciever? If the trigger is loose it will do what you described.
This forum is for product reviews, this thread belongs in the VSR-10 forums.
Sorry about the intro thing I think I got it taken care of. I dont do well with forums. Sorry about the I's. Can a mod move the forum? Should I delete it and start over in the vsr 10 one? Can i even delete it? Thanks

As far as the trigger box it is screwed in tightly and I think the piston is upgraded but it looks to have an angle that should mesh with the seer. If I put the bolt in with the trigger assembly already in it will catch as the bolt goes in and pull the spring back. But when I have the pin that goes through the trigger assembly it doesn't work right.
I didn't even notice he posted in the wrong section lol. A mod should move it, yes. Anyway, what pin are you talking about? Do you mean the spring guide stopper? That is the pin that is seperate from the trigger that stops the spring guide from going all the way back. Are you sure you are pulling it back all the way? I know it might be a stupid question but I had a friend who never used a BASR before and when he tried pulling the bolt back on my bar10 he didn't realize he wasn't pulling it back all the way.
toomanybbs was right looks like I had a hand me down piston and it worked with some modifications. but now I have to slam it hard when I push the bolt back in for the trigger seers to disengage. The magazine doesnt fit tight either so I have to hold it it. Im really glad this gun only cost me a few pmags haha

Be careful. It sounds like you may end up slam firing... Trigger mech? Sears? Maybe you can get a cheap bar-10 and put the nice parts into it. Or a new stock and a couple parts...

When I got my new VSR-10 the other day I had to pull the cylinder back really hard until it clicked and the sears engaged. I just took it the trigger unit apart, checked everything over and tightened the bolts up that screw in to the reciever and it works fine. It could just be a case of the sears being slightly lower than they should be due to a loose trigger unit.

Edit: Just seen your post where you said you could have the wrong piston/sear combo! Try looking on the for sale section, or even the Freebies! thread, someone may have something for offer.
