What about drilling a hole into the outer barrel and bayonet, and then put one of those that keeps mp5's stock and handle in place, you may need to cut it to fit nicely.
E: Just looked at some m14 pictures and this might not work, so you could only drill the bayonet, put a bolt behind the vertical "pipe".

Tape a banana to the barrel, won't matter if it brakes and it isn't pernament.
