BMX or Skateboarding?

2565 Views 27 Replies 10 Participants Last post by  MGunner
Does anyone here BMX or skate. I just started to BMX a few weeks ago. But I have been skating for a good 2 years now.

Just curious to know if anyone shares the same interests as me.

I got on a bike once, fell off, and broke my leg.
I go sandyauchting. I am pretty sure that is spelled wrong.
I used to skate (kickflips and shuvits was about my limit lol), then started flatland bmx and downhill mountain biking and finally settled on bodyboarding/surfing until my back went "snap", now I just shoot at stuff.
I used to BMX, only dirt jumps, I didn't live in a city, the impact on my knees, added with hockey, motocross and Osgood-Shlatters (spelling fail) forced me to stop riding. I would hurt myself BMXing, go workout, then ride some motos without giving myself time to heal. I have a feeling if I kept up at this pace I would need a new right knee by the time I was 30

Ouch.

I just stopped skating. Reason being, it is very painful, now I am sticking to BMX. It is a little less painful, and more practical.
I like to surf, sail and read too.
I haven't surfed or sailed before, it sounds very fun. Which do you like more? What kind of books do you read?

Surfing is good but you have to keep it up to stay good at it. I prefer sailing though. I have a seasafe dandy, just a small fiber glass boat. I am probably joining our local club so then I can sail the small but fast Topaz and Lasers. They are really fun on a windy day. Sandyauchting is dead fun too. Oh and sea canoeing is a very good work out.

I haven't read much over the past year but I plan to more over the summer, I like historical fiction/fact, star wars, war orientated, sea orientated and certain modern books telling good tails. I liked Don Quixote very much but I lost the book so I didn't get to finish it.
I am just curious, what is sandyachting? It sounds like I have heard of it.

I Read alot of the same type books as you, just throw in some anime and biographies. Do you like Luis Lamour?
Sanyauchting is basically where you are on a three wheel buggy with a mast and sail. You control with the front wheel. Google it and you'll see. Also I have not read any of L.L ' s works.
Yeah... skating hurts too much. I just stick to surfing.

It's not too hard to do it with a decent long board, and a nice, long break with a big sandbar. You can get up at your leisure without having to pop-up like a short board which takes practice and getting used to. When you can go everyday (swell permitting), it helps :)

What I want to try is kite surfing... that seems really fun!

Oh I just read a really good book over this week. Vernon God Little. It's quite rude but very humorous and imaginative.
Very nice man. I haven't been able to read much lately though. Having some problems with my family right now. Kinda blows if you ask me. :(

But, a week ago I started reading the Halo series which it isn't half bad actually. I thought it would be. You should check it out.

I prefer mountain biking.
I tried skate boarding. I fell off first time and smashed up my glasses.

I also had to have stitches.

That sort of put me off it for ever.
