Hi everyone,
I am thinking to get me a different kind of sniper/DMR platform from the Tanaka M40A1 platform that I have.
I understand this might fall more into the DMR category, because of the various features I'd like to have..but I know this place comes from higher standards of marksmanship and my question is going to get a lot of great feedback, regardless (plus this forum is a holy grail for DMR roles, too, it seems!).
First off let me tell you I own a G&P WOC SR-15 GBB rifle, this might shift your considerations off some products for the sake of compatibility between this rifle and my future DMR platform (sharing some pieces or being able to intercharge some would be a plus).
I am looking for the following features in my new rifle:
1. It can be any emulation of a 5.56 or 7.62 platform, not a .50 cal. Suitable types are: SR-25, M110, SPR, SCAR-H etc.
2. It must have blowback
3. It must be able to use my HPA rig, either through magazine tap or through a Polastar build
4. It can be either bolt action, semi-auto or semi/full type. I already know it might come down to semi auto only to be able to assess points 1,2 and 3 and to be in compliance with field limits for higher-powered DMRs
5. Its internals must be able to respect and honor the higher quality of consistency that my HPA rig delivers..no point in having 1 FPS max fluctuations in the rig if the internals do not work for consistency
6. Can be gas operated, P* operated or any hybrid, as long as steps 1-5 are respected.
7. Optional but very welcome: the rifle would need to have every function replicating the behavior of its real steel counterpart (bolt catch, handles etc..) as much as possible.
Feel free to give me your opinion and - if you think nothing will ever outclass the accuracy of a carefully upgraded Tanaka M40A1 with a dual-reg HPA rig..well, feel free to tell me so
Thank you for sharing your experience,
