Bull Barrels

So, from what I understand, Bull Barrels start at the normal 8.55mm diameter, then taper up to 10mm. I also understand that they reduce vibrations... or so the manufacturers say. But can anyone attest to the increased performance/accuracy of them? Also, is it true that you need a new OUTER barrel to accommodate these? I was looking, actually, at getting a "cooler" outer barrel for my VSR to make it more unique... but it would be nice to have some functionality too.

Thanks!

No matter how lightly I touched a barrel with 2 fingers when my son shot it with my eyes closed and becoming one with the barrel I never felt any vibrations.

Wrap your barrel in stretched vinyl or electrical tape. It will be completely dead. No matter how thick the metal it it will transmit vibration. what you need to do is dampen it. Like holding a bell when ringing it compared to making it thicker for an extreme example the science supports it. Want to eliminate vibration wrap the barrel not buy a thicker one. Or buy a thicker one and wrap that one.

If the outer barrel OD is different just drill the end cap. I had to for an Edgi Barrel.

Perhaps someone else can comment of shooting better however.
So basically, some barrel spacers and tape will help more than a thicker wall. I always thought that the whole bull barrel thing seemed a little weird.
On airsoft, bull barrels are overkill and 99% marketing. Good spacers and a soild outer barrel is all you really need. Real steel is a whole other story becaues the forces in question are obviously higher, so real steel focuses on creating a consistant repeatable vibration.
Don't get one but if you are set on getting an outer barrel get a fluted one. Sexy.
Or like the twisted fluted one... pretty sick, and doesn't look like the standard VSR everyone has.
Wait are we talking outer or inner here, I'm confused

You could lathe one. IF you have the skills, time, money and equipment. That truly would be awesome. It would probably be hard to find a correct thread though.
Yeah, I don't know about the receiver side threads, but I know that even finding the right 14mm CCW tap or die for the muzzle is near impossible. At least, at local shops and quick internet searches I can't find them, but I'm sure with persistance you can find one somewhere... or if you really have skills/connections you can make them.

PDI stuff's pretty nice though. Would be sweet to say you made it though.
