Felt this should go in the equipment section

Recently, I have traded a few of my older gear stuff, and have gotten an mp5. I planned on using this in a whole new loadout, but have decided to use it in my sniper loadout as well. I am looking ahead to the colder months, when a gas pistol will not suffice. I would get an aep, but the only good one is no longer available around here (g18).

I plan on using the mp5 as my secondary, but have a few questions. How do you guys carry around your aegs along with your sniper rifles. I love my sniper rifle sling, but was wondering if I should get another sling for my mp5 or...? The reason I am asking is because my m4 that I used as a secondary was too cumbersome, and event though the m5 is smaller, I just wanted to know how you guys handled all the gear.

Here is what I will be carrying.

mk96 (primary) x2 mags
m5 (secondary) x5 midcaps
m4 pouch for mk96 mags
mp5 pouch x3
Dump pouch
Radio pouch and radio
Knife
Ghillie

I want to be nice and mobile, while still being able to handle myself against aegs in close range combat.

Also, I was planning on using my m5 with an extended tightbore (363mm) with a suppressor to cover up the extra barrel hanging out. Should I just stick with the regular barrel length (247mm) to keep it smaller and not as long. Would it be too much of a hassle to have the extra barrel length. I love the suppressor look, but I prefer function over form, so I could ditch it if necessary.

Just let me know what you think on this, as I could use your opinions before placing my order.

Thanks
Fuzzy

I have been pondering something like this as my next gun, so here is basically what I have been thinking about the idea:

I would stick with a stock length, barrel just because it would be essentially replacing a pistol, and anything is longer than a pistol. If anything I would add just a little bit with a suppressor if I felt I needed the accuracy/fps.

Since the ROE for most of my games with my sniper rifle is about 80-100', then a secondary would only need to reach inside of that area, which would allow it to only be about 350-380fps, essentially stock, and allow me to make it a speed queen since if I'm engaging in that range it'll be spray and pray anyway (since my spotter is essentially non existent).

As far as carrying extra mags I would only carry 3+1, at most, and I would probably try to fit that on a drop leg panel.

The tricky part is carrying it... I have been thinking of an MP5K or an MP5J depending on budget and what i decide I can manage. the way that I have been thinking of carrying it would be to first of all have a velcro or release snap wrapped around the front of the break that would secure it to my leg, and build a single point sling that would hold it to my chest. I havent quite decided if it would be more manageable to have it on the inside of my body or on the outside, depending how much crawling I plan on doing.

anyways, just my 2c on it...

I use a tricked out Well MP7 ($110)
its easy to upgrade if you feel comfortable breaking into GBs
it can be re-wired for a 7.4v lipo
holsters can be mounted to chest or drop-leg systems

and i got mine shooting accurate to 120ft @ 320fps w/ .25g
not bad for a 230mm barrel

Bobgen, you bring up a good point. I guess sticking with the stock barrel length would be the right idea, as there is no real need for a super accurate secondary, especially if you would have to make the secondary more cumbersome to do so.

And I have been pondering how to carry my mags as well, and never thought about a drop leg, as I was going to just attach a few pouches to my belt. I am liking the drop leg, as this leaves my front belt area open so that laying down is more comfortable. That way, all my pouches are either on my back belt area, or on the leg.

And mojo, for the mp7, it is something I could easily trick out with a few upgrades since the price is real cheap, but I just cannot get into the look of the mp7. I do not know what it is about it, I just dont like it. Although I did say earlier, function over form ;)

Looks like you guys just saved me from buying some unnecessary accessories/attachments for now. In the future, I plan on making a whole new loadout with the mp5 alone, and maybe a gbb, so I will probably add the suppressor and tightbore then. For now though, I think I will stay with the 247 barrel. Now I just need to figure out how to carry it. And Bob, for the mp5k, that is a great secondary as its pretty small but packs a punch. And I was thinking about a single point sling as well. But I would probably try to avoid having it concealed inside your body, because crawling is a bitch then. In real combat, I would just suck it up, and crawl with the mp5k concealed inside my body, no worries. But this is airsoft, and our rifles cannot handle as much damage, especially the plastic body ones. With that said, either strap it around to the back or to the thigh nice and tight. Otherwise, its going to swing around all over the place and you will find yourself in a pissy mood ;)

Thanks for the help guys. You saved me a few extra bucks on this one ;)

my only reason for thinking abou having it in the front is because wearing a ghillie its hard to put stuff on the back... unless there is a technique im missing
. also, if you do go with an mp7 there are drop legs for it.

Edit:
this thought just occurred to me on the way home, what about a P90? Its a bull pup so you would be able to have a longer barrel and you could even do this to it

except for the fact that he has already purchased an MP5. I would suggest a high speed set instead of high torque set. At least for me any ways, when i need to use my secondary I want alot of fire going their way really fast. I Like to call them my "OH Sh!T" weapons

Yeah, at this point I have an mp5 on the way. Its the accessories, and magazines, etc. that I wanted to get some advice about. But bob, the p90 is a great idea, and thanks for all the input. I am going to go with a thigh pouch system for my mags, that way, laying down is much easier/comfortable.

And tux, thanks for the advice. I had not even thought about other internals really besides hop up area. I will look into that, as getting off a bunch of shots quickly will allow me to either get the enemy out, or allow me to get out of their fast. Love the name too....when I have to pull out my secondary its either because I am clearing out an area where cqb fighting might turn up, or I am in one hell of a pickle ;)

Thanks for the advice guys.

Alright, so at this point, I have changed my soon to be sniper loadout.

Sniper rifle x2 mags
mp5 x4 mags
Drop leg pouch for mp5
Radio pouch + radio
Ghillie suit
m4 pouch for mags
dump pouch

Not much looks like it has been changed, but I am staying away from the extended tightbore/suppressor option for now. That way I am more mobile on the field.

As for carrying the mp5, I have a generally idea. Mainly, I will be prone somewhere, so therefore I can lay the mp5 out in front or besides me for easy access. If I am not laying down, I am probably on the move, which means the mp5 will be my weapon of choice for the time being.

I am excited now. Cant wait to field the new stuff soon. It was rather difficult using a sidearm that did not work out in the fields at all. Its only use was a bang kill that I got. In fact, my sidearm is so unreliable I found myself more confident with my knife then I did with my glock.

I am thinking of going this route.

Sniper rifle x2-3 Mags
M4 CXP x 4 mags - it's heavy but can be easily slung esp with the stock slidign in and out. Might even take the red dot off for this role.
Ghillie
Radio pouch

Pic of my CXP with Silencer and 363mm barrel.
But for this setup I just swap back to the original 229mm barrel and that will remove the whole silencer length 190mm as well as retract the stock.

Fuzzy on the if the muzzle is facing away from you there should be a small ring like attachment on the left side of your magwell, you can put your sling there and on the rear mount then attach some stick on velcro to your handguard or somewhere else and some more on your side or where the MP5 hangs naturally because the loop of the sling should go over only one shoulder like a backpack strap, so if you have your MP5 velcroed in place all you have to do is apply some pressure and it should release. I hope you got all that, I would take pictures but my camera isn't working, and I own an mp5 so I know what I'm talking about.

I wouldn't doubt you for a second

I am actually looking to sell the mp5 now, only because it just does not suit my style and I do not have alot of funds for her.

But thanks for the tip. This will definitely help out some other people. Thats the beauty of this forum. Even though it may not benefit me anymore, someone in the future can use this too

I have a kwa Mp7 and its the best secondary in my opinion, that you can carry in a sniper lode out. A brand new one is a little pricey (around $250), but its compact, easy to carry in a dropleg holster, and the range is incredible for it's size. Its gas so cold weather is an issue, but its 400+ fps, and I've gotten kills with it on people from insane distances. If you don't have $250 to spend, theres some great deals on ebay too.

I agree with lambosv2605 I have a kwa mp7 and because of the ns2 system it works pretty good in colder environment although I have not gotten to use it in winter yet.
