I plan on using the Star 20 round short type magazines in my G36:

I planned on carrying five of these mags, as well as some other small items, in this: http://www.airsoftpost.com/product_info.php?products_id=30747{1}1

I would attach this to the belt for spent mags: http://www.airsoftpost.com/product_info.php?products_id=26540{1}1

Any opinions on this or suggestions will be appreciated. I'm looking for something that would not hinder my ability to lay prone.

Also, I looked for a while at the battle belt but there aren't any MOLLE pouches that would justify all that equipment over this simple setup.

I would personally go with a few m4 pouches on your pants belt/duty belt. Sounds like you do not have a whole lot of gear, such as a sidearm, radio pouches, etc. and the space on your belt should suffice.

I say m4 pouches because I am not sure if there are any g36 pouches available and if there are any specific for the mags you will be using. The m4 pouches should work though, and run cheap at around $12 for a double pouch. I would get a few of these and attach them to a belt, and you should be good to go.

That would be a lot more organized. I plan on getting a sidearm in the future, and just attaching a holster to the belt. I'm worried about having to dig in the m4 pouches to get to those tiny mags, though. Do you think M14 mag pouches would work?

M14 mags would probably work, but there is a simple solution to the m4 pouches being too big.

Take some cotton balls or tissues, and stuff them at the bottom of the pouch. Do this until you can grab the mags out of there without any issue or need to dig in deep for them. I did this with my type 96 mags, and it makes getting them out of the pouch much easier, as the mags sit up higher now.

That, my friend, is genius
. I'll definitely implement that, but probably with some scraps of cloth or something more dense to fill the bottom part. Or maybe I'll just tape over the cotton balls.

Great advice, thanks.

My old type96 mags fit into a compass pouch. I then had that attached to my vest by my shoulder so I could always have it when prone without much moving. Point being a mag can go in many different pouches. Go to an Army/Navy store or another surplus store and take your mag. Go and find the pouch with the best fit. Then once you know what will fit you can go online to buy a specific brand or color. Thats what I would do.

If you go with the m14 mags, you may not need to stuff the bottom. Basically, when you get the pouches, try out the mags, and go from there. If you feel the need for the mags to be higher up, use a little bit of stuffing to let the mags sit up more.

The fact that the stuffing can be removed gives you the ability to try it out and see how it works. Then just take out the stuffing if you feel you do not need it.

True. I'm going with the Mini MAV from Tactical Tailor that mojo linked to above, and I'll carry my mags in this pouch: http://www.tacticaltailor.com/762308doublemagpouch.aspx

Thoughts on whether I could fit two mags in each pouch? I was thinking so, because it says the pouch is 3 inches deep and my mags are a little less then an inch and a half wide each.

If you have the mags already, take them to a place where they have different pouches. Try them out and see what you come up with.

I would personally look for either a compass pouch, or some grenade pouches.

I hope this is not a necro post, but as of right now this thread is still on page 1 of the forum, so I just thought I'd add my 2c since I have been dealing with this issue as well.

I am currently running a G36 as a DMR. It only chronos 430, so I do not have it fixed to semi, thus I also use auto once in a while, if I have to, for this reason I still use full sized G36 magazines. If you are going to use G36 mags, get AK pouches. Double AK pouches will fit two G36 mags clipped together if you take out the divider. Unless you are set on the Star 20rd. SL-9 style magazines or have fixed your G36 to semi, I would just go with the extra capacity.

Seeing as how the last post was in December, it is a necro post. Also Im sure the reason he is using the short mag is to make the gun look more of a DMR were as if it had a long mag it would look like a long rifle. Also I believe he has solve this problem by now.

Yes, I should hope so, and I saw the last post date. However, it just pains me to see people turn away from the G36 series because of the awkward magazines
So I guess I was more trying to spread some knowledge; apologies for the necro post.
