This is an instructable I made a while ago for my dot sight, however it's interchangeable to conventional sniper scopes. I mention this in the instructable, but this is a very basic design that is not going to offer fantastic performance, however in a pinch it works, and I use it to this day. Sorry for the general immaturity of the article, as I said, I made the it a while ago.
Looking back I think that replacing the bottle plastic, with plexi glass would be a much better idea.

How to make an airsoft red dot scope protector for cheap (also works for conventional scopes)

Good idea, actually. My scope caps had clear lenses, so I just used them.

HunterSeeker5 took a piece of 1.5" plexiglass and made a heavy duty protector for his optics.

I made lens protectors for all my scopes but not from plastic,

I bought a 12 inch diameter speaker grill for a couple of pounds , it was stamped steel mesh 2mm (ish) thick with 4mm holes in.

I measured the diameter of front ends of my scopes and cut sections out of the mesh with tin snips (metal shears) to match.

I fitted them by simply by removing the front butler creek flip up cover from each scope, laying the mesh on the end of the scope (across the metal rim not on the glass lens) and refitting the Butler creek cover.

Vision isn't affected and they also work as a kill flash.

They have taken multiple his over the last 7 years with no issues at all.

I should try this, I am tired of buying new scopes when someone cracks or even breaks the front lens. Thank you for the information guys
