Does anyone else feel completely overwhelmed when it comes to picking their first sniper? There are so many options, so many upgrade options. It's kind of daunting. I just wanna be able to reach out and touch people from like 200-250 ft away lol. So much great information on these boards. So much to process.

What sniper do you like the look of?

I went for an l96 in the end over a vsr / t11 as I just prefer the look. No one here ends up with just 1 rifle so make your first your passion project.

That said check what platform it's based on to make sure it's easy to upgrade.
I'm a big fan of the VSR 10 look. Always liked the classic Remington 700. I have looked a lot at the TMs, JG, and the SSG 10 series. Might be able to pick up an SSG10 A2 stock for under 300 but I'm not sure if it's worth it in the long run.

When getting to know sniping tech for the first time, it sure feels intimidating. But once you get to know to it, it actually isn't that difficult. Its just like how we first learn multiplication, it feels daunting at first but then we quickly get the hang out of it after few tries.

I would say get a great starter sniper first before going into teching, the starter snipers which are AAC T11 or EMG Barrett.
That's great advice but I'm usually a one and done kinda dude lol. Like I'd like to get something I can tech up overtime vs dropping 200 on a good starter then 600 on my dream rifle in the future. If that makes sense?

Basically, if you go with a VSR10, either the TM, Cyma ir JG, you will probably replace all of the internals eventually. If you are not afraid to put in the time and money, you can for either the JG or Cyma variants, since they are 100% VSR compatible.

Or like Ron mentioned, go with the AA T11 and upgrade it over time.

Just dont buy Angel Customs parts, they are trash. Stick with Action Army, Laylax, Maple Leaf end etc. parts
Yeah my evike cart is full of AA parts. I like the idea of having to fully replace the parts. I think its a good way to learn how the weapon functions so if in the future there's an issue or something breaks I'll have the knowledge already.

I know a lot of people think the SSG10 series is overpriced at 300 and 400 respectively, but do any of yall think it would be worth it if I could pick up an SSG10 A2 for under 300?

Yeah, I understand on what you're trying to say.

AAC T11 actually is upgradable in the long run, so you might go from there. Or you could get JG and replace all the parts since they're all cheap parts so you might not feel any remorse on changing everything lol.

I can't comment anything on novritsch SSG10 since I heard mixed reviews everywhere, but one guy I stumbled upon seems like summed it up well : it's great for spare parts.
I will have to take a look into the T11 then, it looks about the same price as the TM VSR, is it better because it comes with some better internals?

Alright so looking into the T11 it looks pretty decent for the price. As far as upgrades go, originally when I was looking at the TM I was planning to buy the following to start:

  • Action Army Specialized "Zero" Trigger Kit w/ 90 degree piston
  • Laylax PSS10 170 SP Spring
  • Action Army Hop-up Chamber

If I'm understanding the T11 description correctly, some of these are already included. Can anyone clarify which are no longer needed?

TAC41 is great, bonus point for its correct magazine placement. You barely needs any more upgrades. It's just that the stock kinds of frail at the front since it has nothing to hold it there so if you want to put sling on it, you may want to avoid putting the attachment point at the front of the stock.
Well I guess since the TAC41 is within my budget I'll look more closely into that one. From what I've read I can choose to replace the stock spring with a rapax spring and the piston with the w.a.s.p piston. Maybe not right away but at some point in the future.

I ended up getting a TAC 41. Between posts here and other sources, it seemed like the best initial investment. Maybe in the future I'll decide to go the full build route and get a VSR platform. The idea of building one basically from scratch is still very appealing.
