Hey guys haven't posted in awhile but this one you guys can help me with. I have been thinking about getting a CA M14 Match and converting it into an M21. I already love CA since I got an AUG A2 and a G3 that I upgraded to 420fps (with .23s), and they are perfect weapons. But I always wanted to get into M14s and looking at pictures online I want to try getting an M14 converted to an M21.

Any suggestions on upgrading an M21 to a higher range and power and what to get to change the body to an m21?

This is what I am aiming for looks wise

Thanks for the help,

Just so you know, you're thinking M21, not M41. The real steel M21 is just an accurized version of the standard M14 and thankfully for airsoft it doesn't take much work to make an M14 into an M21.

All you really have to do is get the M14 at the retailer of your desire and buy a couple other external parts.

If you want the exact M21 you pictured, you'll have to buy the following:

M14 RAS kit: (this once includes the railed stripper clip so you can mount the rear ring)

M3 scope replica:

A bipod of somekind, I have this one and I love it.

Also, you'll need to take the selector switch off of the gun and make it semi-auto only to be a true M21.

This is the M3 replica scope, RAS and mounts all included in one package. Plus it's made by G&P so you know it's top of the line.

Well I'm not trying to change your mind or anything but I'd suggest starting with a TM M14 rather than the CA. Tokyo Marui not only has made top of the line AEG's for years but their M14 is really a work of art. The stock range and accuracy on these guns is amazing, not to mention one of the quietest AEG's.

So yeah, the setup I would suggest is a TM M14 with a Guarder FTK (Full Tune Kit) and a Guarder cutoff lever. The cutoff levers in M14's like to go soon so that's why you'll need the reinforced Guarder one.

Guarder FTK:

Guarder Reinforced Cutoff Lever:

After that you will want a tightbore barrel of some kind. You can go with the DB Customs 6.01, PDI 6.01 (pricey), Prometheus 6.03 or KM TN 6.04 (The Prometheus and KM barrels have been said to perform the same despite their .01 bore difference). I just bought a KM 6.04 and I love it.

Keep in mind that if you do invest in a 6.01 inner barrel you will need to use only high quality bb's and keep the barell clean and dirt free at all times. If you don't, it will jam on you faster than you can say "Hit!"

Another note about CA (and G&G) M14's - you cannot use TM, KA, or any other brand magazines for the gun. Only CA or G&G mags will fit CA/G&G guns. I own one...there is a cutout on the CA/G&G mags that is not there on the TM & clones.... So....assembling a loadout with a minimum four standard magazines is gonna add $100 to your total, vs. $50 for an 8 pack of KA midcaps...

I won't even get into the better quality of TM internals....but yeah, if you get an M14, go for the TM, maybe add some CA externals, but def. go TM. If I were to get another M14, I would certainly be going for a TM next time around....normally I would have no problem suggesting getting a CA - and for most other guns, I would still say that, but since teh CA is different, I can't suggest it....

As for upgrading the internals, if you have a good local airsmith, take it to them.... I got my gun used and upgraded by one of the best airsmiths in NJ, he's worked on a number of my guns and I plan to only use him for a while, until I become good at opening and working on gearboxes myself. A local airsoft forum should be able to point you to an airsmith in your area, you can take the gun to them, or bring it to a game they will be at, or just ship it....whatever works for you...

Me, personally, I proffer the G&G version 2 for several reasons. The first, and most important on a gun shooting semi-only, is that the Gearbox comes with a spring release latch as standard. 2nd converting to semi involves removing 1 screw, removing the change-over cam and your done. 3rd the gearbox is one hell of a lot easyer to work on, if you can strip a V2 or V3 you can do one of these. 4th most parts are V2/3 or AUG compatible so easy to get hold of.

I own both a TM M14 and won a CA M14 Walnut Match (thank AEX for the raffle donation). Here is a link to my review on C3's forum. VS added a CYMA portion, the review will be on going:

Honestly, with 3 years of field time in the TM I have never had a problem with it. It is hands down the best stock AEG I have ever used and frequently out performs many upgraded AEGs,

The only issue is the mech box is spooky black magic, Don't open the magic box and let the magic out of it, if you do it wouldn't work anymore after tormenting you in much agony. *or you buy a complete replacement and don't mess with it if you don't know what you are doing exactly, lesson from some one I know that let the magic out.. In my case it fired on average 320-330fps with .20 gram excel BBs This is the M14 replica I recommend, it is the only AEG I have not added a tightbore or hop up bucking to get to perform to my standards.

The CA, does not have as much field time as my TM, It fires on average 340-350 fps with .20 gram Excel BBs it is dismal in its accuracy in comparison to the TM. I think this is due largely to inferior hop up buckings and maybe barrel related. I have not opened it up to find out. Although, the externals are good on both replicas, I am of the opinion that the TMs are a bit better, but understand that some allowances have been made due to how each replica operates, CA and TM have different takes on how a M14 is done. A example the hop up adjustment in the TM is in the magazine well. The hop up adjustment for the CA is in under the bolt cover. I have no experience with the G&G or king arms M14s, Echo1 used 2 different clones for "their" M14 one is horrible and the other is not bad for a clone. A lot of players local to me sing praise for CYMAs M14 but again I recommend the TM.

If you do decide to upgrade the CA, post up a parts list and a how to, as I am unhappy with how mine (CA) performs.

The CA is a direct clone of the G&G m14 with the exception of the fire selector :) So as far as upgrades are conserned anything G&G related is relavent, and has been covered here both by myself and others, so go read and become enlightened ;)

well, on real steel, an M14 to M21 there's a bit more involved, but as far as airsoft's concerned, yeah. a good scope mount, an M3 replica and a bipod. look on the bright side- its cheaper that way!!
