Current problems with my Ares Striker AS-02

Hello y'all! I have some questions and concerns about a scout rifle build I have going at the moment and was wondering if any of you have some answers. Beware, I am somewhat new to airsoft and this is my first major build, so if I lack terminology or proper phrasing, please, feel free to give me suggestions and feedback regarding it.

Now onto my current build. I have purchased an Ares Striker AS-02 recently have been working on making it more accurate and achieve longer distance. However, I have been having accuracy issues.

The new parts I have installed:
  • Action Army Blue Hop-up Unit
  • Action Army Barrel Spacer
  • Rocket Airsoft M150 Spring
  • PDI W Hold 50 Degree Bucking
My problem is that the majority of my rounds usually group 8 inches to the right of whatever I am shooting at (I took a roughly a hundred shots with .45 grams at a 8in X 8in target at 40yds and achieved this result). My rifle averages in the mid to high 400fps range. My elevation is acceptable for the most part; however, every round sheered right when it got around 30yds down range.

I am stumped! I have taken the rifle apart to check if screws or anything is loose and that is not the case. I have tried different ammunition. I have also tried the stock spring, same luck, inaccurate.

If you have any suggestions, tips, tricks, I would be elated to hear!

Welcome, you might want to do an intro first!

Unfortunately, your first major build rests on a bad platform. Ares striker is a bad example for a bolt action springer since it has low volume cylinder.

Anyway, your accuracy problem, I heard somewhere that the standard barrel has improper alignment by a few degrees. I think maybe that's why.
Unfortunately, Akami is correct. These photos illustrate what's going on with the outer barrel - apparently the manufacturing process is definitely not perfect. This isn't present on all barrels, but I myself had an issue with mine.

You can tell if your barrel is affected by removing the outer barrel assembly from the rifle with the inner barrel and hop up unit still in place within the outer barrel -If it has a bit of an "S Curve", then that's probably your problem.

Edgi does make outer barrels for the Striker if you're looking to replace the outer barrel. I installed one a few months ago, unfortunately I haven't been able to test to see if my accuracy problems have been fixed, but I no longer have the S Curve either.

Thanks for the reply, Shaggy. I will take a look at mine, that totally seems to be a logical and supported reason behind the right-hand curve I am having on my rounds. Usually when I fire it is like a curve ball, it swings hard left, then center, then lands right of the target, it looks similar to this --> (

Thanks for the pictures as well, that helps a bunch!

I will update if that was the problem or not.
I just took my rifle apart and inspected the areas of concern, they are fine. However, I did not that the entirety of my out barrel (which will change my inner barrel) is "warped" a couple degrees to the right. This explains my concern I believe; however, I do not know if it is the threading on the receiver that is incorrect or my outer barrel that is incorrect.

It's threaded fine, they can't cast them worth a damn unfortunately. Edgi or I believe the ares CF ones are better. No idea what's up with their abysmal molding though.

Idk if it's cast or not, but it could be poorly extruded/forged maybe. If the stuff plugs up a file and leaves a bad finish I'd say it was cast, but if it files alright for a while then it may not be cast. Weird move on that barrel, classic Ares.

It was gummy weird crap for shavings when I turned my barrel, didn't spin nicely at all.

Def cast then, I made a massive aluminum hammer out of aluminum I cast and it turned like shit

Conveniently there are free files to 3d print a new outer barrel that supports the inner over it's entire length. I've been running it for a few years now without any issue.

I wouldn't say the platform itself is a bad one (I think it's very good in fact) but it is certainly not great as a long range sniper platform. It excels much more with close quiet scout work

I just purchased a 3d printer so hopefully I can print that barrel out.

I also am running this AS-02 as a scout rifle, not DMR or anything. Simply allowing me to be the eyes for the team while also maintaining precision.

Got a link to those?
