Hello.
I have been having problems with left curving shots. Things I have done/checked:

  • Removed and put on the scope, scope rings and adjusted the scope to be as aligned as possible.
  • Dissasembled the rifle to check the hop up chamber, all parts look good from what I could see, some dirt on the bucking but removed that.
  • Checked the inner barrel's straightness and taken off the end cap to see if the end of the inner barrel is not straight, where the bb leaves the barrel.
  • Checked how I hold/tilt the rifle when I shoot, I hold it as straight as possible.

I am getting frustrated, new rifle and already acting up. I might somehow tilt the rifle but it really is a long shot.

Hi,
curving to the left means, that the contact area of the hop up rubber is not perfectly vertical but a little off to the left side. To check this, just tilt the gun a little to the right and you should see the bb fly straight.
Fixes:
  • turn the hu chamber a little to the right
  • twist the barrel including rubber a little right
  • check the hu arm, maybe there is a little play or the pin is bent and center it.
If you look down the hu chamber and give some pressure on the hu arm, you should see the patch of the rubber as centered as possible.

Okay.. but if I turn the HU chamber a bit to the right, then the screw holes are not aligned though, or?
I twisted the rubber whilst cleaning it, but it's made so it cannot twist and turn, I tried moving it right and left but it won't move (which is a good thing in general).
The arm looked good too.. moved well and moved when I assembled the chamber and tested the function of the hop up adjusting lever.

Hmm..

I never had constant left curves with my stock ssg110 HU, but I did get the occasional (1 in 5ish) zingers off to the left.
I shimmed up the Hopup unit inside and out with copper tape, but aluminum tape is probably easier to source at a local hardware store. I just had copper tape handy.
When you assemble the inner barrel and HU unit, you can look down into the window where your nub makes contact with the bucking. The stock ML bucking has a sort of point going towards the muzzle ( >) that you can use to eyeball it and get it looking good and centered in the window.
If there’s side to side play in your tension arm, apply a thin strip of tape around both sides of the nub to minimize this movement.
Also, once you screw your outter barrel into your receiver and install the keeper screw, if you have any play, with your mag block and trigger box installed but before you have put it all back into the stock, I always flip my barreled action upside down, then look down the bottom of the barrel using the flat surface of the trigger box bottom to align the mag block as I give the outer barrel a final alignment making sure the mag block and trigger box surfaces are parallel. Then I put a piece of copper tape to keep it in place.
Then I bolt it back up to the stock.
I don’t know if the way I do it is right or wrong, but it’s how I’ve been doing it. Might be worth a shot.

@brinneb hmm, twisting just works for minimal play, so the screws still align. Only thing I can think of is that the hop-up arm may have some inperfection or that the sliding mechanism pushes it down not centered perfectly. Just disassamble the hu unit once again and test that while looking through the hu rubber and barrel...
