It has just come to my attention that we cannot delete our own posts within a thread.

Is there any specific reason why we are not allowed to do so?

I've heard of vbulletin having restrictions for deleting posts if "X" isn't enabled or whatever for the member. There was a big discussion on AO about it a little while back.

I myself, when I look, under the edit menu have the option to delete the post.

I don't remember what the conclusion was on AO why certain people couldn't delete their posts and can't seem to find it currently, but if delete isn't under the edit option for you, for the time being just flag the post or PM a mod and we'll take care of it for you.

I actually had to look up how to delete because I'm actually used to SMF and being able to delete threads and posts. I also couldn't find the topic you are referring to.

You should be able to do it now. It will be a 'soft' delete, meaning you and other members won't see it anymore, and then the Mods will permanently delete it or 'undelete' it when they see it.
