so i have just recently purchased a l96 style sniper rifle and am practically broke on funds. I'm looking to see if anyone knows how to make a mag pouch for 2 l96 style mags that would fit onto the buttstock. this seems like the best way for me to cary mags but i don't have the $$$ to buy a buttstock mag pouch. (i couldn't even find one online for an l96) if anyone has ever made one themselves or has an idea on how to make one DIY that would be great. thanks!

Buy a little plastic box with a lid that fit a mag and glue it or screw it onto the gun.

Where do you live? These are from Poland, so unless you live there, shipping adds a little more:

Stock Pouch - Woodland [8FIELDS] - TaiwanGun.com

Magazine pouch for M4/M15/M16 mounted on stock - Flecktarn [A...

I'm sure you can find similar pouches (for similar prices) on ebay or something ;)

EDIT:

$10 USD, including shipping to whereever you live ;)

Will need a little bit of adjusting to fit an L96 stock but should probably be very doable.

I bought a 2x pistol mag pouch, then using 1 inch wood screws, I attached the mag pouch to the buttstock. they hold speed loaders and VSR mags perfectly. You can keep the flaps on if you want the mags to be more secure... I've removed mine and never lost a mag or speed loader. Sometimes I carry a mini colt25 mini pistol.

If you have any sewing skills, its not too hard to craft one up. For something like this, it doesn't need to be to some high grade material either. Heavy cotton would do. All you need less then a yard of material and a button or two, or just tear up old BDU for the materials and buttons.

And if you don't think you can do it, here is some historic inspiration. Back in WWII, the M1 Carbine stock pouches needed to be sewn at the bottom, to conform to the stock. So, the pouch doesn't slide off of it. Another common practice was to cut out pockets of worn out field uniforms, and sew them on to parts newer ones to get more pockets. These are all common practices that Soldiers and Marines did, none of them had any "official sewing training" or anything crazy like that. Sewing is a basic skill and isn't hard.

actually i was looking at getting 2 10 speed m4 pouches and putting them at the bottom of each side of the buttstock. i might actually have to make them out of compression shirts but with a little ducktape, it should do the trick. as for sowing skills, i made my own version of a ghetto ghilly and i had to sow just about everything... it sucked
