Sorry to necropost, but how about you make a specific DIY sub-section for each of the major rifle sections? Just make 1 pinned post for each gun in that section. If we get one person for each gun who knows their gun really well and has done mods on it in the past, then have them make a single post with as many DIY mods that they can think of for that specific gun. Also if you leave the threads open members can ask specific questions on each DIY so that each thread will become more detailed with time and possibly get even more mods that you can do.
For example you could find your specific guns DIY like this:
1) Click on the Major section your gun is in. Example- Maruzen
2) Click on the DIY sub-section.
3) Click on your specific guns DIY pinned post. Example- Type96
Now like you said the credit card noobs won't usually get that far anyway. However those of us who are legitimately trying to learn as much as we can, can then go learn and share all the info we know about DIY upgrades.
Plus, if there are any ignorant or repetitive remarks in these threads you can easily just have the maker of that specific gun's DIY thread delete it.
All in all I think it would be really helpful to have the specific DIY sections because it would keep the majority of the helpful DIY info in a categorized place. Unlike now where you have to search a pretty large part of the forum or make a whole new thread just to answer one simple question.
PLEASE NOTE: When I say DYI, I'm referring toward things like using electrical tape to make barrel spacers or filling your stock with cotton balls to help silence the rifle or using rubber padding on the piston head and air nozzle to decrease sound. Things that you can do at home for cheap to help increase the performance, durability, or look of the rifles without having to spend a 1K on upgrades (though to have a truly good rifle this will eventually have to be done anyway).
Anyway thats my 2 cents. Again sorry for necroposting. I just believe that this should be done
