ok i know you guys are going to tell me to use the search bar

but it doesnt work, SO BACK OFF!!! (adam sandler voice)

any ways, i want to put a 170 spring in it

i heard you either need high torque gears OR high torque motor.

is this true? i thought you would need both

which ones would you recommend, i have stock ICS gears and ICS infinite

motor now. would the 3000 be able to handle a spring with that much tension?

Actually, there are very few times when you should use torque gears, they are generally a waste of motor speed. Your motor should be able to handle that M170 spring, I've heard of people putting M190s on those motors and them being able to pull it. You just can't use a small battery.

I'd stick with that motor, and maybe stick with the gears or pick up some SHS 18:1 gears just to be safe. If you've got the budget, you could get some Riot gears, but they are about 4-5x as expensive as the very good SHS gears.
on infinite motors? they are a high speed motor. you dont think itll lock up?

im using a 9.6 2000mah battery
Hmm, I must have been confused, I was speaking about the stock motor.

Well, if you must get a motor get a Lonex torque or SHS torque, lonex is higher quality, SHS is cheaper.
haha

i have the infinite motor.
i was wondering because my gears are shimmed very well, i didnt want to take the change of that up.
Let's not use profanity please.

This is a civilized board. At least use a * :)

who are you?
A longer time member than you. I'd suggest not getting the mods angry, Fuzzy wouldn't mind give you a vacation from the forum if need be.

Anyway, I pick up a battery with more mah, I would think a 2000 would run dead faster than you would like. If you going to use semi-only, picking up an 10.6 NiMh or 11.1 Lipo.
Man a bad word huh? I don't mind cussing but please don't speak of monstrosities ..

*cough cough

anyways i was just asking for advice on airsoft guns, not a witch hunt

Have a warning for using unnecessary profanity, and rudely replying to a long-standing member for asking you to refrain from it.

Next warning you'll have a vacation.
In my experience, a m170 spring with a high-torque motor and a 9.6 lipo will not turn over without a mosfet, and it will be notably sluggish even with a mosfet. Also, one could use the stock gears provided they were not crap, but they might need some stress-hardening before placing the spring: that is run the gearbox without a spring for 30-40 minutes first.

9,6 lipo? dont you mean NiMh? last time i checked, lipo came in 7,4 11,1 and 14,8? (last one im not sure of)
I know that the ICS Turbo 3000 is a high torque, with decent speed. It handles m120 like nothing. A M170 would be a bit sluggish, but you could solve it with a good battery and high torque gears. I think that a standard gearbox with a T3000 would run up to a m140 max.

Also, the infinite motor is not suited for high torque.

awesome, answers my question perfectly,
im thinking of getting a high torque shs and 18:1 gears

i dont use a mosfet

im hoping it doesnt get sluggish

See ya in a week.

We have a grammar and punctuation rule in place, and while no one gave you a heads up on it, you had no reason to act like a complete ass.

So see you on the 19th.
Get a mosfet and a 11.1v lipo on top of that. You can thank me later.
You really should get a mosfet if you want to run high voltage. I am not sure how reliable, but my mech says dielectric grease can serve for a mosfet, but you have to keep the grease fresh and happy, or fiz-pop-burn.
do you think a 9.6v can pull a m150 spring with an shs high torque motor?
i recently installed a flat hop up, and my rifle is shooting about 210ft with .3s and a m115 spring.

i want to hit 275-300ft as i only play private fields.

i know what i need to get that distance i just dont know the products i need, (mainly gears, motor, and battery.)
