My friend just tried fitting a JG Bar10 trigger which is VSR10 compatible into his M28 last night and only to find it does not work. Somehow the Bar10 is larger than the M28 and also the safety now does not engage either.

He does have a JG Bar10 and it has Laylax VSR10 upgrades in it with no problems.

The M28 trigger group is way off spec and VSR10 triggers may not even fit and requires modification. It will be a hit and miss thing with these M28 sears using VSR10 stuff like Laylax, AA and PDI.

I havent had that problem with my M28. I have used 2 Bar10 trigger boxes, and one from the Agm L96. All fit like they were made for it. Could it be he did something wrong? As for the safety has nothing to do with the reciever of the gun, therefore its not to do with the M28. The safety is in the trigger box. So it sounds to me like he didnt do something correct or his trigger box is faulty. There is zero possibility that putting the trigger box on the rifle would make the safety not work.

I have also had my M28 trigger box on my Bar10.

I am sure the Bar10 trigger box can bolt onto the M28 receiver.

But I think the issue is the internal parts loose tolerance.

Since you have a Bar10 trigger box, can you please try testing the M28 sear in the Bar10 trigger box with the Bar10 trigger.

Then test the Bar10 trigger in the M28 trigger box with the M28 sear.

Thanks

My friend was up all night with another friend that has a real TM VSR10 and was able to confirm the following.

The M28 trigger box is proprietary or it is out of spec!

- The Bar10 trigger works perfectly in a TM VSR10 trigger box but would bind in the M28 trigger box and prevents the safety from working.

- The M28 sear also binds in the TM trigger box

- When the M28 trigger was used in the TM trigger box, the TM would slam fire.

What he has concluded is that a complete trigger box either from TM or JG will bolt up onto the M28 receiver.

DO NOT mix up the internal parts. The Echo1 M28 trigger box is proprietary.

Sounds like either I got lucky over and over again, or something is still wrong with your buddies M28 trigger box. I have had no problems at all swapping out trigger boxes. I do know that the quality control is crap on the M28. I have 3 spring guides, all three are different in size,lol.. I have two stock pistons, both are slightly different in diameter. This could very well be happening with your buddies trigger box. My buddy just bought an m28 from ebay and he will be getting in soon, I will ask if I can inspect his parts. But it may take awhile. Its not getting shipped till friday.

I guess the test with real TM VSR10 parts was the best way to confirm if the M28 trigger box was really 100% VSR10 compatible .

It looks like a hit and miss.

He has gone ahead to order a complete JG Bar10 trigger assembly from either Evike or ASGI.

My M28 trigger box does not work with the a Bar10 trigger either. I will be switching out to a Bar10 trigger box as well.

Ranger, You just confimed that even the plastic parts don't even have consistent dimensions. If the piston was severely undersized, it will slam fire easily along with the loose fitting M28 trigger parts.

Newbie here.

Santa dropped off an Echo1 M28 for my kid (and for me too).

It shots like crap so I need to do some upgrades (shooting .2g bb's, but found some .25g bb's locally so that should help some). I just ordered Ranger's upgraded aluminum piston. Airsoft GI is out of stock on everything listed in the OP of this thread (seems to be par for course). Who knows when they have stock again on that stuff. Is there anybody else that carries those parts?

I'll order the R Hop today.

The M28 was delivered with a JBU 9.5 inch Mock Suppressor, so the new inner barrel will be ordered with enough length to hopefully come out flush with the end of the suppressor.

Santa also delivered a UTG 3-12X40 AO Mil-dot RGB scope which is really sweet.

Thanks for your order buddy, I will have it ready to ship out tomorrow morning. What all other parts were you going to get for it "the stuff thats sold out at GI"? I just made an aluminum spring guide last night for the first time. Its a one piece and it was a PAIN! Lol.. Just took way longer than it should,lol..

I already have a better idea for the 2nd one I am going to make, just gotta take a long drive to Alro steel for a 7mm rod. I just dont wanna go drive for about an hour today, its finally about to be bed time "yay" I may make the drive tomorrow or the next. I will post pics of lastnights headache in my pistons thread after I get up in a few hours.

I was going to get the following:
-6.01 Masamune barrel
-Airsoft GI Upgraded Trigger Box
-4 Metal Magazines

But they are out of stock on all these items.

I wanted to get the inner barrel long enough to come out flush with the suppressor. I have it figured at 651mm (stock M28 is 515mm). Airsoft GI says no dice with them, so I'll have to order it custom. Who do you recommend for custom inner barrels? They recommended EDGI, so I sent him and email at [email protected]. I found that email address online, so I'm not sure if that is current.

Personally, I use a short stock aeg inner barrel. It was mainly cause I have so many inner barrels laying around,lol.. I also just like short rifles, but I dont think I'd go tighter than a 6.03 cause anything tighter can jam and also requires constant cleaning. But thats just my opinion. I have a 6.03 I was planning on putting in mine soon to see how I like it.

If you wanna just upgrade your trigger parts, check out www.clandestineairsoft.com they have Shs sears WAY cheap! thats what I had in mine before my trigger box broke. The piston sear will need to be cut down some though. They are pretty long and mine was setting on the outside edge of my sear catch on the stock piston and my aluminum piston. Being the sear catch is stainless steel, it will still hold up but its still best to shorten the sear some with a dremel.

If you wanna get creative, there is a lip inside the hopup that stops the inner barrel from moving, you can use a dremel on any aeg inner barrel to make the line so it will fit the inner barrel, or just shave the line out of the hopup. Then when you install your aeg inner barrel, just wrap the bucking with teflon tape and take it down the inner barrel further. Wrap it enough and it wont move around inside the hopup anymore. Now ya can use any inner barrel you want, and save some $$,lol.. I will post pics in here soon, to show what I mean.

As for the mags, they are sold out pretty much all over,haha.. I saw some on ebay lastnight though. I believe they were more expensive than GI has em for.

I got to say i'm glad that this thread is here. I got a M28 as well and so far i've had it slam fire under five times. Other then that nothing bad had happened.

It has been almost 2-years since I last posted to this thread... a quick search shows that not much has changed with the Echo1 M28 as far as commercially available upgrades go, still leaving end users to FULLY make customizeable parts for their rifles. A shame too, as the M28 is actually a decent rifle.

I am currently going through my rifle completely, and fixing that which cannot be replaced by a commercial upgrade... I hope to start contributing to this technical thread again, in hopes to help other M28 users make an effcient precision rifle platform.
