Thanks for that link, it still shows how the mag fits in the vsr chamber (that it does basically work). Regardless of how I choose to get it to fit I'll need the chamber... Once I have it in hand I'll see how much different the diameters are. You're probably right that there will be too much material to take off the chamber and that the best thing to do would bore out the barrel/get a vsr one.

Great thread. Really informative. You guys are all pro's. I'm expecting delivers of a new m28 tomorrow for my 14 yo son. He's been into airsoft for about a year & wants to have his own sniper gun. Uses a friend's from time to time & loves it. I'm the group's repair guy & I was looking forward to getting a spring powered gun that won't need the work that the aegs do. Or so I thought until I started reading about them.

Anyway, I want to set up the m28 so it will be around for awhile. Here's a list of a few mods that I plan to do before he uses it. What do you guys think:
1. Locktite everything especially the trigger assembly screws.
2. Jb weld the hinges on fake magazine door to prevent it from opening & rattling.
3. Add teflon tape to the butt extension to reduce rattle when open.

By what I've read I'm only expecting about a month or so before the slam firing problem starts to occur. I plan to order a speed sear set & fabricate new cylinder washers out of film cans that dragon mentioned (Fyi those cans are available on amazon) but there doesn't seem to be a reliable replacement piston except for what Ranger makes. Can I order one from you now.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I'm the only one making them, not sure why Echo1 left us like that. But yeah buddy, I have one I am about to finish up tonight. Double o ring on the piston head. Pm me when your ready. I want to have a handful of pistons done before I turn my website back on since I just got everything operational again.

Got my(son's) m28 today & went right to town on it. First thing I did was fill the fake metal magazine door hinge & latch with jb weld. Solid & quiet. I also took my dremel to the top rail & widened the slots so it will let the scope mounting bracket sit better. Big difference. Next I plan to install the new piston(thanks ranger) & speed sear that I ordered from evike. FYI, 20% off coupon good until june Kq897yg21. I'll have to wait for the piston & sear to arrive but I don't even want to mess with the stock parts. Tons of play in the stock sear set & as far as the plastic piston is concerned??? What else can I say about that.
One more mod I'm still debating is to upgrade the trigger & bolt handle. Looking at about $50 upgrade, any thoughts from those that did this or wish they did.
Also, Dragon, has the 35mm film can mod held up. I have a few to use & am giving some thought to do what you did, but I thought I read somewhere it may not be a great solution.

Be careful when using them cans for spacers, the extra resistance can make more stress on the cocking handle and make it come loose. Happens way more often than you could believe. I will be making good cylinders, just unable right now. I do have a few solutions to stop them from coming apart, but I need to locate a broken cylinder to test my new theory. Shame that I threw away 3 of em last summer haha...WHOOOPS!

I was thinking of trying them but cutting the length to only about a 1/4" or so. It looks like the ones dragon made extended to the cylinder opening & were closer to an inch in length.
Also a good polishing on both sides with a drum sander (interior) & dremel on outside to help reduce the thickness.
Anything has to be better than the thin washers it comes with.

Right, the cylinder guide rings that come with seem to suck lol.. When I had my business last time I used to make cylinder guide rings too. I tried the film canister mod but took them out after a few games, was just too tight. I would rather have wobble than struggle to cock my rifle or snap the end of the cylinder haha.. not saying the film can isnt a good idea, I just didnt like it, and made the rings.

So I was able to modify the action army hop up chamber to fit in the m28. It's so much nicer than the stock chamber. I was able to lathe down the OD about the 0.040" difference. Still working on fine tuning the fitting with the bb stoppers and the magwell height, but the mags are compatible like ranger said. Requires modifying the magwell, chamber OD, bb stopper length, and where the front of the magwel mounts to the barrel isn't currently connected; I'm planning on getting a screw that fits it and a washer/spacer to take the place of the larger stock screw. Defiantly not plug and play for this rifle, but so far it's much nicer than the stock chamber.

In other news, after 3 years I think I wore out the 9ball bucking, but I found a R hop patch that fit my barrel perfectly that I never finished installing... this made me very happy.

I'll probably update my m28 thread in the near future since I've done this and some other major upgrades.

I started playing airsoft in 2009 with AEG's I took a 3 year break. I recently purchased an Echo1 M28. Ive been reading/watching reviews for upgrade parts, but Im still undecided on what to get. I've looked at the Angel custom upgrades which seemed like a good fit, but I've found more negitive reviews then positive. Then I looked at novritsch's upgrade kit for the M28, but am unsure if its worth the price. Ive read the older post on here about this rifle, but am looking for some updated info if any
