Well I haven't posted here for a long time, and only posted a couple times when I was active here, but I've decided that I am going to have the patience to truly be an air soft sniper. I followed the usual trend of the new air soft sniper rifle, getting a clone rifle, not getting upgrades, didn't like the gun,got out of sniping. However I continuously found myself attempting to snipe with friends guns, even though they weren't sniper rifles. Well now I've decided that I'm going to have the patience and spend the money to be an effective sniper rifle.

Anyways, I've been looking at rifles and have decided that I'd like an AEG as a sniper rifle. I've been looking at the Echo1 M14 Socom16 AEG. I plan to upgrade the spring and get a tight bore barrel right away, as well as an ACOG scope, though the iron sites on the gun are pretty good. What other upgrades should I keep in mind to make this gun have the best accuracy/range possible? This gun does have the ability to go full auto, but obviously I plan to use the semi auto 99% of the time. Does this gun sound like it's going work in helping me be a successful designated marksman? I know the sound is going to be somewhat of a problem, but I figure I'll counteract it with my ghille suit so they can't see me easily, and accuracy so I hit them before they have the chance to hear/locate me. Thanks for reading, and I'm eager to hear what the experts can do to help me.

Sniper = person who does reconnaisiance and shoots people from range
Sniper rifle = Long range gun generally with an optic

Bad spelling I know.
Thanks I fixed it.

@goldentrigun: I'm most likely going to purchase from the local airsoft store as they offer a free warranty on any gun that makes the $45 per hour labour charge free, as well as halves the cost of all parts I might need in the future. Unfortunately that limits me, but I've done extensive research on the e1 and it seems like it's a really good gun. Is it going to be that much of a difference to outweight the free warranty?

Thanks for everyone's help!

I had an ECHO1 SOCOM 16 years ago. Was actually a pretty good gun out of the box.
I was a newer player, so I did not even tap into it's full potential. I know it outranged most
other AEG's and was only shooting 350fps.

In my experience though a G&G M14 has a flatter more accurate shot than any other AEG M14 I've shot.

Both the ECHO1 and G&G require tuning and parts to shoot to max potential.
Honestly both are a good choice, but ECHO1's being based of the Tokyo Marui design are a bit more complex internally. Though being based off TM's M14 means a lot of upgrade part option and cheaper magazines.

If your buying a clone, go grab the CYMA over the E1, UTG, AGM or Kart.

The Echo1 is a rebrand of the Kart. The Agm and Kart both use extremely crummy pot metal in their gearboxes. The UTG is just a hunk of sh**. The CYMA actually has some quality to it, along with having superior accuracy do to the stock 6.04 inner barrel.

Your list of purchase choices should go like this:
1. G&G
2. TM
3. CYMA
4. AGM
5. E1
6. Kart
7. UTG

Evike is really bad about that, they put the KS P90's which are actually made by Kart into JG. They put King Arms into softair, and they throw Echo 1's RPK into the sniper rifle categories. Although I trust them most the time, they aren't correct 100% of the time.

So do you guys think if I get this gun I'm going to be disappointed or will it likely make a good first AEG for sniping? I have the luxury of free labour and half priced parts if anything goes wrong with it as long as I get it from the local air soft store. Opinions are greatly appreciated.
