I painted my rifle and finally finished the real-steel magazine project. I also got a new sidearm, it's a Western Arms Para HRT. After perfecting my grip/draw with my SVI Championship I couldn't go back to single stacks, it just felt weird. Finally I added some pouches to my vest to fill it out some more.

If you're wondering why I have those mag pouches and no gun that uses them it's because I'm in the process of switching 7.62 secondary weapons. I sold the Mk14 Crane/DMR and I'm saving up for the Ares 'SR-25 Carbine', more accurately called the M110-k.

Take a looksie:

Very nice. I'm quite fond of your rifle although I'm not sure what I think of the paintjob. The magazine mod looks nice so kudos there.

I'm a big 1911 fan so you get points wiht me there. Although I'm not a big fan of those grips, or double stack. I like it nonetheless though.

Overall nice setup, I expect pictures of the ARES when you get it as well.

Nice gear, LOVE the paintjob and mag.

Although that flash hider always looks a bit weird to me. Flash hiders never seem right if they don't protrude from the outer barrel and generally make a big deal of themselves

Maybe I'm biased from my PDI flash hider.

Thats a VERY nice looking long you got there mate
as for your choice of DMR rifle, IMO not so hot, looks good/the part but the mechanics of it are not as good as any of the M14s available out there, unless of coarse you are going to try and cram an ICS hop unit into it and strengthen the front of the gearbox some how.....then I might change my mind ;)

Thanks for the words, gentlemen.

Vindicare, I'm well aware of the inherent drawbacks of a V2 over my old M14's V7 but I've dreamed of having an M110-k for quite some time now. Another thing about the Ares is that it uses a much more durable/reliable Microswitch instead of traditional trigger contacts which also equates to amazing trigger response. I'm willing to compromise for that and a couple other reasons.

your Vest could also use some camo paint as so to add more accents and that WEATHERED Effect... nevertheless... Thumbs up.
Thanks for the suggestion but there will be no paint going anywhere near my gear, plus a buddy of mine was compromised one time due to the pungent smell of spray paint giving away his position. I don't need it it to look weathered, I just need it to do it's job.

Now see, there was I saying ' Nice looking gun 'n'all but shite mechanics' when I then get a budget set by the wife to buy a new gun for my birthday, so I go and buy the A&K SR 25 Long to add to my collection ::)
I hope to use it to fill in for the VSR at the Grunt power limit sites I play at, as they tend to be very target rich, and I ended up with bruises on my shoulder the last time I played with the Visser in such an environment ;)

Will teach I to not open my gob to soon next time ;)
