Sup brahs, SamuraiBrah is in. I need some advice on installing the flat hop mod onto my Well MB05 (MK96).

I've got my gun stripped down to the bucking, and have gotten that flipped inside out. When I got it flipped, I noticed there was a large "ring" encompassing the bucking. I need to know whether to grind that off or not.

According to the picture, going from right to left, it goes:
1.seam (grind off)
2.mound (grind off)
3.protruding "ring" (???)

Thanks for the help guys.

Do you have any experience with flat hops BuMs? Of course it's for a better seal, but the parts ground off the bucking also serve a purpose, if you get what I mean.

You can find on youtube lots of tutorials on how to make a flat hop. Basically all you need to do is remove the bump that gives the spin on the hop rubber and that line that centers the rubber on the barrel since you won't need it centered and you'll have to rotate the rubber on the barrel 180 degrees. Teflon tape for better sealing and that's about it.

That ring is also there to make sure the bucking doesn't slide off the barrel, what I called fitting.
I'm not sure I like the undertone you got there... But yes I do.
The purpose of filing down the mound and the centering line, is to enable you to turn the bucking off center, and still sit flush to the barrel.
The ring doesn't interfere with that, so no need to remove it.

Haha I didn't mean it like that at all BuMs. I tried my best to word it out better, but it's late and I'm not thinking straight. No offense intended.

Thanks for the help BuMs and stefanuhp

I will correct a little what you say. after remove bump and line center, you rolate the bucking to the area you dont sand off/cut the bump and the lines for nicest flat contact, not always 180 degrees.

He just said above on what replica he's operating on. MB-05 and with the picture is very clear. Usually 90 or 180 degrees and i have mentioned the 90 degree possibility! you were late with you're post!

You mentioned it but with a lot of confusion! Dorkido did good on clarifying (kinda, will still need to work on your English  cause that isnt your first language is it?)

You will never rotate the bucking in any gun 180 because then the trim you shaved off will be over the window. Don't want that! So it will be 90 in every gun.

I own this gun and have taken it apart more times than I can count and I can count pretty high ;)
If you have any questions about it, just pm me and I will help you out.

Ok. For the sake of argument... Look at the picture the man has posted at the start of the thread. On the bottom of the bucking you can see the "nipple" that gives the spin and the line that center's it on to the barrel. What can you see on the upper side of the bucking???

You have a WE mb 05? or one of another manufacturer? the VSR type bucking is not the same with the WE's.

And no! I don't speak English in Romania but we can speak french or better yet Romanian if you'd like; maybe then we can agree that on a WE bucking there is no trim you shave off on the opposite side of the "nipple" and you can rotate it 180 degrees.

It's a Well, I believe the only manufacturer who makes the MB series. The MB series are clones of the Maruzen Type 96, or more specifically the UTG MK96. Not saying your wrong or right, just clarifying.

And can you make a description of your hop up bucking?? Or pictures? If you would rotate your hop up bucking 180 degrees what would you see on your barrel window?? Just to clear it up. The mb 05 is also called the Urban sniper and ASG make's them as well and who knows how many others.

I was actually talking to Dorkido about the English. Your English is fine stefanuhp.

Stefanuhp, It isn't that big of a deal. A 90 degree rotation will be good everytime, in every gun.

After looking at mine the trim is actually in the top, so if you have this bucking you could rotate it 180 if you want . Technically you could rotate it anywhere from 45 to 315 degrees.

Moral of the story is to rotate it to a spot you have not sanded at all, and is completely untouched.

I think you're a little confused. Well is the only manufacturer who makes the MB series rifles. ASG's equivalent is called the AW .308. Although both of these rifles are clones of the MK96, which is in turn a clone of the Maruzen Type 96.

I'd rather not feed the flames on the hop up question, it doesn't matter. Smooth side goes over the hop window, whether It's 37° or 182° idgaf.

You get the point and that was the whole idea!
