If I move forward with my VSR build, I'll be going with a Wolverine BOLT. This means I would have the choice between the following VSR-10-design rifles:

- Tokyo Marui
- Jing Gong BAR-10
- Echo 1 PSR
- Echo1 M28
- Cybergun FN Herstal SPR

I plan on using the Action Army chamber.

Are any of the rifle bases up there a solid 'no-go'? What are the differences I would face (mostly in relation to an HPA build)? I've heard a fair few people say that it's quite nice to go with the TM, even if you're replacing the performance parts, as other portions of the rifle such as magazine catch and the general build quality are much nicer on the TM. Is this still the case today? Are some of these rifles built better than others in notable ways?

Also, the Pro version of the TM VSR-10 doesn't come with rails? Is this correct? That seems insane to me.

The TM is the standard, the JG is about the same quality if you ask me. I have little experience with the others but I'd just go with the tried & proven JG BAR-10.

The only real downside I've experienced with the JG is stripped threads on the receiver on some models. It's down to luck I think, my personal one has intact threads everywhere even though I completely tear it down like once every two weeks at least and I've been doing that for over a year, other ones seem to strip the threads on the first reassembly. I had one of those guns in my hands today actually which had the front trigger screw hole (M3) stripped of its threads. While it was a bit of a nuisance to the owner, drilling it out and threading it for M4 only took five minutes and probably solved the problem forever

The TM is not worth it, I'd say. And AFAIK every experienced person on this forum shares that opinion with me. Go for the JG BAR-10

Oh, yes, the JG and TM pro versions don't come with a rail. That's just a "pro" thing. They only have iron sights. Just like the G-spec doesn't have those but has a rail instead.

JG offers a rail to fit it which costs about $10. PDI also offers rails for five times the price and other manufacturers probably offer them as well. The JG one is the cheapest and I think it's just fine :hehe:

A true pro doesn't need a scope :hehe:

Thanks! I sort of suspected that- but I had seen some claims it's worth the quality. I doubt it- especially because I fully plan to drastically modify the stock/body.

...I should really just PM you any time I need clarification eh  heh

Though, anyone else should feel free to disagree or share input on the other rifles.

They're pretty much interchangeable. Not with other brands though, but JG and TM works fine

Please don't, my inbox is flooding already :lmao:

Well, PM's with questions are fine, but here on the forum the information is useful to everyone and for future reference

Not really, I see on HK, Russia and some sell already included with rail mount.

Maybe as a package deal? The gun itself doesn't come with a rail

Never seen that here though. But then again, all "package deals" here are the G-spec because everyone seems to think the G-spec is better :hehe:

thanks for this post, i was struggling with the choice, jg or tm, i'm going for the jg, i just need to find a website where i can find the aa chamber and aa 6.03 430mm barrel, i can get them from amazon, but i don't know yet

don't get angel custom.

The jg is compatible with the wolverine bolt, you don't need the cylinder, but it is recommended to get it

Hi everyone,

I have experience with some VSR-10 compatible rifles and I share Reliku's argument that the TM is not worth it. Of course it is the original one but the clones pretty much do the same job on a much lower price.

Consider the Echo1 PSR as it's receiver seems a little more sturdy than the JG-Bar10 if you like the M40A1 looks.
Consider the FN SPR A5M if you like the M40A3 looks. The FN SPR is also compatible with the Maple Leaf VSR Receiver where the Echo1 PSR is not, because the threads on the outer barrel are slightly different.
