Here are some pictures of my ghillie suit I made a couple weeks ago (just got the camera working :) )
I am currently adding some netting to attach some more jute on the arm area, and will post pictures of it later. There is no natural veg in my suit nor has it really been worn in as of yet (Have to get her nice and dirty ;) ). Let me know what you guys think of it so far.

Haha, my friends call me turtle because when I am far away, the back of me looks like a shell :) But hey, it gets the job done. Was thinking about doing some pants now, but I want to stay pretty mobile, and I believe I can get by without the pants.

Yeah, quote from zulu:
"Airsoft games can turn fast paced at a moments notice. That's why you see a lot of ghillie poncho's, they still offer good concealment while allowing the wearer to be agile"

Not direct, I really didn't feel like fishing out the thread, but you get the point. And I guess it's better than some I've seen. Some guy bought the one off Airsoft Megastore...less coverage than a $5 insurance policy ;)

Amen to that :)
Anyways, yeah, from what Zulu said, that makes a lot of sense. If I need to get out of there fast, I do not want to start running and get all tangled up like this: http://guidesarchive.ign.com/guides/9846/images/tangela.gif

Thats why I will stick with just the head piece and jacket. When I can, I will get some pictures with some natural veg in there, and it will look alot more like a ghille suit. Where I play, there are a lot of ferns, which I have found are very easy to attach.

LOL, thanks.

However I would be wary about you looking like a turtle from far off, the point of a ghillie is to not be able to be seen from far off, or near for that matter. Another quote I remember along time ago hear on the boards, before I was a member.

"You never will know the true value of a ghillie suit until someone steps on your hand, you say "Hey!" and they jump 25 feet in the air"
Wish I could remember where that was from...

Yeah, thanks for the tips. Luckily, they saw me walking to the other side of the field before the game started. I had not yet put any natural vegetation in the suit, and was getting ready for the game.

With that said, natural vegetation is the key to success with a ghillie suit. I cannot wait to get my gun working for the summer months when school is out. I really want to test my ghillie out in a serious game with some natural vegetation in there.

Agreed,

Conversation between a noob sniper and a hard core sniper

Hard Core Sniper "Nice Ghillie suit"

Noob "Thanks I also use a little bit of vegetation"

Hard Core Sniper "Me to"

Noob "Wheres Your Ghillie?"

Hard Core sniper(reaches into pocket, pulls out packet of rubber bands) "Right here"

Hahahahahahahah! That is great. When I told my friends I used rubber bands all over my rifle, they said it was stupid. For awhile, before I made my ghillie, I used rubber bands, to add some veg to myself and my friends thought I was being dumb. Guess they can be defined as MLN (Major League Noobs) I am going to restraint myself from ranting about them being the ignorant airsofters they are, as this would get off topic fast :)

Thanks, there should be like a soapbox section where people can rant on and on and blow off steam without offending anyone or getting any hating for it. My school has one in the bandroom which is the only soundproof room(I wonder why they put it in there). But yeah people use it all the time and it is fun to go in there during break and listen to what people have to say.

I think this is a good idea. There was a forum somewhere else that talked about stupid things your friends or people they airsofted with did. People would tell stories about annoying things they experienced throughout the day.

I say there should be a section where we can talk about things that happened at games that makes us mad. It will help blow off steam like you said, while allowing others to get alittle chuckle in. :)

Ha, ok I think I will put this in the suggestion box, because this seems like something that could work. I have a feeling alot of people have some good stories about noobs they would like to share.

Sound good?

I put your name in the post I made in the suggestion box :)
Technically I still have alittle work on the ghillie left. Just have not put the last few minutes in, mostly due to final exams this week. And I meant Tbs (wont let me write "spo on " as one word ??? ) of hardwork, as I was making an analogy to cooking a recipe :) But yeah, a gallon of blood and tears seems more realistic :)

Hey, just an update on my ghillie suit. I just finished sewing on the rest of the netting and used the shoe goo on necessary places. As I was cleaning up, my rabbit, who runs around outside all day, came up on the porch. He ran onto my ghillie, and started "digging" as if my ghillie was a pile of dirt. Turns out, as I came up to him, he had taken a few bites into the netting of my suit :0

Now I have to patch a few places up. Silly rabbits got some sharp teeth. O well, now I have something to do tomorrow :)

Pics of the suit with some veg will be up by next week.

Alright, got some work done on my ghillie. I took alot of jute out from around the back area and arm area to get rid of unnessecary jute hanging down. Its alot lighter now and not as bulky. Here is all the jute I took out to give you an idea.

Next, I added some jute to the upper arm area like I said earlier. I now completely completed the left side. I did not add much because I want natural veg to do most of the work.

Here is a picture of the right upper arm area that has been sewed and glued down. Now I just got to add some jute.

Once she is finished I am going to test her out with some veg in the woods. Ill get a friend over so he can take some pictures. Then, once she is nice and dirty, she can play in her first game after being entirely finished. :)

Also, should I take out some more of the jute, it still looks alittle bulky to me. I would like to hear your opinions on this.

Any comments please post. :)

Fuzzy
