Will the G&G G96 long mags work with the Tanaka AICS series or any other M700 for that matter? I understand that they use the G&G "upgrade" for the strike plate. Do I have to modify the Tanaka hammer to strike these?

No the G96 mags will ONLY fit the G96 stock!
They are wider than the Tanaka or KJ mags.

You can only use Tanaka or KJW mags, if you have an AICS stock you can use ONLY Tanaka long mags.
