Well yeah. When I "broke" my ghillie in, I washed the whole suit with water. Also about 4 months ago I got horrible mud bath with my ghillie and I washed the mud out before it dried on the suit. Didn't have a negative effect on the suit.

Oh sorry. For some reason I didn't add the part that I washed the ghillie outside with a water hose. Would not recommend to use a washing machine for the job. At the worst the whole suit will be ruined. Also I hanged my suit for 1-3 days to dry.

The only time I washed my ghillie was when I slapped mud all over it to break in the jute, and to "naturalize" the colors. I simply took a hose and washed it down. But since then, its been around 4 months since I hosed down my ghillie.

When it gets wet during a rainy game, it smells like wet dog. Its horrible, especially since I keep it in my room. Sometimes it smells like plants from the veg I leave in my suit. Nice and natural, thats how I look at it.

The only time I would hose it down is if a bunch of bugs and critters decide to set up shop.

Febreeze and air dry is a lazy mans best friend
. Though I wouldn't recommend the febreeze unless you let it hang up for several days by some sort of air flow. Otherwise someone will walk by you while your hiding and be like "Hmm something smells clean. (Looks around) Ahah!" and shoots your great smellin' self ;).

LOL ....

Hang the suit outside fuzzy.

Yeah you really shouldn't have to wash your suit. It will only take away the good stuff that has made it look good. If you must.... do a light spray with the hose and air dry for a few days.

How do you all store your suit? I'm constantly worried about bed bugs, ear wigs, and the like. I'm thinking of hanging it in my garage, in a cleaners plastic cover. Also I'm asking this because the dirt and filth that builds up on it over time could get all over whatever is around it, along with a ghillie's natural bulk. In the interest of max info, it is a full 3-peice suit.

I don't own a ghillie yet, but a good storage idea would be to zip it up in one of those nylon cover things you buy suits in.

I'm pretty sure you can find them for cheap this was just the first one I saw on Google. These will keep the critters out and keep it from spreading its dirty love
.

Just buy a full size one and make sure you hang it somewhere that you don't mind smelling funky ;).

Yes, the air will definitely help make the bad smell go away. Believe me, after playing a game in the rain, I felt like a dog that just got out of a swamp. Its gone now, just let it air dry and sit outside.

My Ghillie is on my BDU top and it is sweaty and dirty. Washing it with a hose wouldn't do anything
But it sounds like you are still trying to clean it. My ghillie has clumps of dirt, its sweaty, and smells like forest at the moment. Thats a good thing dude.
