I play on a decent sized field, although I'm not sure on how much I need a ghillie for. There is only one field that is really wooded, but I was also wondering for MilSim type events.

What are your opinions?

Honestly, It comes down to play style.

If you are the type to sit and wait, and wait... and wait... and wait some more, then crawl VERY slowly and sit and wait some more, then yes. a Ghillie is suitable. If you like to move around a lot and go from location to location quickly and not stay in one place for a while, then it's not worth it.


I prefer the sit and wait game. The kills are MUCH more rewarding.

I haven't used a ghillie in a while, but I still am able to sneak up on people. Have had people still walk within arms reach of me.

So honestly it is up to you. I would say try and go without a ghillie and see how you do. If you are able to get your mission done with out one, I wouldn't worry about it.

I use my ghillie when I snipe, I once forgot it, and stuck out like a guy wearing UCP in the jungle (quite literally as I wear ACUs when not sniping), I will only wear my ACU when I snipe in an urban environment or when I play CQB. Like mccl said, its about your play style, but I also believe it's about personal preference - I personally love waiting for that perfect shot, and I love the look and feel of a ghillie. I also believe it's about where you'll be playing the most - don't use a ghillie in urban AOs and DON'T use UCP for jungle/tall grasses.

if it's not too hot (<80 degrees) I'll wear my ghillie. otherwise not worth it.
