Hey i'm not entirely sure where to put this so i'm posting here for now.
My names jay i come from a sniper role in a paintball team. The whole team is making the switch to airsoft ( less messy ), now i reaaalllyyy need all of your expertise, i understand the sniper tatics and such and love this role. I basically need all your help to pick, buy and upgrade myself a accurate, durable, reliable, and powerful gun i have 500$ to blow on the rifle from selling my paint ball gun. Can i please get some help!?!? The only one ive seen that has stood out so far is the G700f by airsoft gi aparently lots of upgrades pre installed? Is it worth it? Thanks guys! Oh and i'm looking for spring rifle

Hi BDJay please make an introduction post... (As I told about it via PM)

As for your question... A great starter gun (and probably the best base gun) is the Tokyo Marui VSR (and clones like the JG BAR10).
You can find a VSR with many upgrade parts used at a lower price than the one you have. If you buy new the TM VSR then the money won't be enough to max it.
Just a Zero Trigger is over $200 ...

Search around, you'll see many threads about this gun, you can find upgrade/spare parts pretty easy for it.

I'd suggest to start from a spring/air cocking gun before jump to gas guns.

JG BAR-10 G-Spec
TDC mod, LRB mod and all the teflon tape mods to get a 100% air seal, and R-hop. :p

Then you have some cash left over to spend on further upgrades or externals.

I personally think a good springer is the best primary you can have, simply because of the ease of use and how simple the system is. Even if I had the money, I'm not sure I would go gas. In my opinion, there is nothing like racking bolt on a BASR (bolt action sniper rifle).

I also suggest a jg bar-10. It has a plethora of upgrade and replacement parts. Some prefer the l96, but I like the bar10 better simply because of the angle of the handle and the rubbery stock.

There is an upgrade procedure by Cheese Man stickied in the new members section so you know what to upgrade first.

There are several threads about what upgrades people put into their bar10s (or other vsr clone) in the others section or vsr section, you just have to look deep enough.

Of course you probably do have experience with HPA if you played paintball so you could get a gas rifle right off the bat, but it's going to be a lot more money and will get a lot more technical than a spring rifle.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy airsoft.

now i am looking to go spring route just because gas as given me some real problems before (my tank exploded) and not sure i like the idea of it any more. for those of you who know paintball a bit i was using a fully upgrade tiberius t9.1 with first strike and bored barrel, i was crazy accurate at 150 - 200 ft i would like the same or more range on my up and coming airsoft sniper

as for vsr's and bar 10's im hearing nothing but good from them

i have my eyes on well its a jg bar 10 with these upgrades already installed
Action Army zero trigger
PE 6.01 inner barrel
Airsoft GI Extreme hop up bucking
PE VSR10 long rail
Airsoft GI PE spring guide
Airsoft GI PE M150 spring
Danger Werx High Engagement Hop Up Lever
Danger Werx Type A Over hop
Airsoft GI VSR10 thread adapter
Masamune Teflon coated cylinder for VSR10
