Ya its a well WELL G96 AWM Gas Airsoft Sniper Rifle and its from Airsplat, but meh I don't care.

I could go even further to put it down and tell you its a bone yard gun and I got it for like 103 shipped.

Ya see I read the Well G96 review on Airsoft Retreat, and I thought, ya Id like to have this gun. But the Ares/Star is like $550, and the G&G is like $390 so for 99$ and a touch of shipping, no matter the outcome I'm good to go. I think, lol.

Anyway, my only sniper set up has been the Echo1 ASR, so I'm kinda excited to get a gas gun.

Most of the reports I can find on this gun seem to indicate about 540fps on Green gas, and someone indicated 600 fps on Propane. But I find that hard to believe.

So ya, I'm kinda taking a shot in the dark here with this being both a Well and a bone yard gun. But I seem to be hearing good things about it. And since I spent 10 years as a clock maker, I guess I should be able to puzzle out what ever is going on with this gun.

Does anyone here have any Direct experience with this particular gun?

Eh, Like I said, Ill take a wack at it and see whats what. If I have to buy some parts, thats cool too. Im up for a challenge.

Its pretty cold here. So Ive got untill like april to get it going I figure. And even then Ive got my ASR so no worries.

Well I recieved the Well G96 today. Everything was with the gun. Scope, sling, mag, . . . yes the gun. Everything . And the reason it was a suprise to me as this is an airsplat boneyard gun.

Further what was labled as a bad gas bolt, is infact the fill valve. Totally broken out of the gun. The result is a brass tube that appears to be slotted to be removed with a screw driver. I called the local shop and they told me they have valves in stock. SO . . . tomorrow Ill pop on over there and see what they have for valves and get this thing Running.

Well I hope. As long as nothing else is wrong with it, I should be good to go. Time will tell. And Ill post up here with the results.

Its not as accurate as my ASR is. But then again, I havent put a firefly bucking in this one. Currently it has an old soft AEG bucking that I had laying around the house. So it shoots low, low, high low, mid, mid, SUPERMAN !!

So.. meh, new bucking and nub are inbound right now. Ive got a firefly on order locally, and then I will see where that puts it.

That and the fact that its been nice and cold here so my gas gun isnt settled in yet. LoL. So Im kinda waiting to pass judgement on it untill I can get some decent testing in.

I bought one of these from the boneyard myself; the ad stated that it had a broken magazine and missing butt pad. When I received the rifle, the desciption was true, except thay forgot to mention that the rifle was also missing the bolt... so my WELL G96 project has been a hangar queen ever since. I watch the boneyard from time to time hoping to find one with a bolt, but so far I have had no luck.

You could buy the G&G Power Bolt.

I dont know about the G&G bolt, but the Ares, and Star are totally compatable with that gun.

So there are options.
Yeah, there are options alright... just no supply. At least as of last summer. I have looked everywhere and even emailed Star and Ares, who nevere replied, my only hope is that another one will show up in the boneyard, or I buy a new rifle and use this one for spare parts.

Question for you Ronin55; when you cycle your bolt, does it have a habit of hanging up on the mag? The scrapyard unit I purchased came with a broken mag insert because of the this issue, and I have seen many other videos depicting the same problem.

Anyways, I will be getting another WELL G96 from the scrapyard, and I hope that from the two, I can make one working unit.

I can pull mine apart when I get home... it is completely unusable at the moment, so it would be no problem to do.
