Good Rifle Wrap Techniques

5165 Views 12 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  fuzzywolly
Hey guys. I was wondering if anyone could give me some good tips on how to make an effective rifle wrap. I thought this would be a good place to pool information about this cause there are currently no threads about rifle wraps on this forum that I could find. All camo types and any useful techniques are appreciated!

Also if someone could put at least one post on how to make a slightly more removable rifle wrap I would personally appreciate. Just for the sake of knowledge. Thanks!

1.... Take burlap
2.... Cut into strips
3.... Attach to rifle
4.... Add natural foliage

That is how I do it..... Short and sweet.
How do you attatch it to the rifle? Rubber bands..netting...tape?

Rubber bands or elastic straps/hair ties. Hair ties are nice because they come in a variety of color.
I was hoping for something more creative but that works I guess haha. Quick question though. What do you guys to to keep the foliage from getting in the way of your scope?
Move it ......

either that or just bend the foliage out of the way. Most of the time the focal point will be past the barrel, so a little in the way wont hurt anything.

There's also re-usable self-cling rifle wrap called McNett Camo Form.

It has quite a few good colours. I'm planning to buy it to protect my SL8 (which got scratched up by my wire mesh mask on its first outing).

The wrap is around $14 USD

Sometimes it looks like the foliage is in the way, when it really is not. What I do is tie some foliage and stuff on there, and then take a look through the scope. If its in the way, like Woogie said, just move it. But you should be able to have some veg wrapped around the entire barrel with no problem.

Old picture of some veg on my rifle. It was a quick veg, nothing fancy. Notice how it looks like the veg is in the way, but its not.

Hmm ok. I'll try playing around with it and see what happens.
Well. My camo wrap was a simple 4 meters (12 feet) long piece of camo netting with para cord strengthen the structure. I tied some jute to the netting and also tied some rubber bands to it. The result is this:

Used it for a year and a half. Then got tired for it's bulkiness and all the work for setting it up (attaching vegetation to the wrap, the wrapping the rifle, making sure you can see trough the scope and that you can take the magazine out and operate the bolt)

Now days I just painted my guns. Attached some burr lap and thats it.

I am going to let this slide since its Christmas, but do this again, and it will result in an immediate warning.
