@ whisper... You might find that now you have sanded the nub flush with the prongs and then remove the rubber nub you could end up back at square 1.

I use a long nubed arm and TDC with nubless rubber in mine, and when I spaced it originaly to the same thickness as the prongs it under hopped.

I had to space it a further 1mm to regain enough hop pressure ;)

Or you can glue 1 above the other as I did, you just have to make sure the thread you tap into the outer barrel is spot on square to start with.

Then just thread the nut on the bolt, screw the bolt into the outer barrel, and glue the nut in place, it is that simple..... it doubles the thread length but it does also stick out the barrel a fair way, I now have to run high scope mounts to clear the bolt head, no big deal concidering how fine the adjustments now are and how straight it now shoots ;)
