I was taping up my scope yesterday to make one of those little window sunshades and i was just curious, how many people have actually been spotted because the didn't have a sunshade on their optic? I know I have caught at least one person and it ruined his game, my squad rerouted and flanked quite effectively.

Come on skater... no need to be like that that IS actually a problem, i recall several topics with some veterans saying theyve managed to catch enemy snipers because of scope glare.

And to answer your question, adibs, yes, if you read several of the stickies and guides on good sniping, most if not all will provide feedback on that matter, it is important and it can get you spotted easily specially by seasoned players, hell, if you leave parts of your skin without camo that will be a giveaway for experienced players, lurk more around the old topics and youll see even in the picture threads that some critisizm is because of naked wrists or unpainted face, good luck.

Thanks guys, I knew it was a possibility but just didn't know if it was common at all. My roommate asked me about it so I decided to survey this forum and see if anyone can recall a time where that actually mattered.

Yes, this is actually a huge issue. Lots of guys don't take the time to do a bit of work on the front end of their scope and it has cost them on the field. I have caught a few guys that did not do some work on their scopes and is certaintly something I would address.

After all, you spend hours on a ghillie suit, camo your rifle so that you yourself cannot find it, and take time establishing a good hide...all to get caught by your scope glare. Easy thing to prevent, but can cause huge issues if you forget to do it!

I would whole-heartedly recommend making a killflash. Not just for protection against glare but also to hide the glass.

I've only seen sun glint once in a game, but I've found and been found by other snipers because of not having a killflash to hide the glass. To the point where I'm now afraid to field any scoped rifles without a killflash!

I use one for the sun. I have not yet perfected my ghillie so yeah.

This, and the killflash also does a nice job of stopping BBs
