Hello to all you snipers out there, my name is Aaron and I have been looking around this forum for a while, but never really decided to join until now. I've been airsofting for quite a few years now, but I've only started sniping this past couple years. I started out in the assault role with a JG AK47 and a KJW Full-auto M9 and it was fun, but once I tried sniping, I never turned back. I eventually sold some of my gear and bought the Well MB01 L96 and a SOCOM Gear M1911 MEU. I wanted to join this forum for help if I had any questions about upgrades or anything, so I hope you guys could help me out.

Hi Aaron, welcome to the forum. I lived in middle California for a few years, just outside Yosemite. Northern California is stunning. Most of my time in the US was spent in southern California. I am sure you will enjoy your stay here, the folks are fun and quite knowledgeable.

What part of NorCal? I don't get to play that much anymore, but it's nice to keep tabs on other snipers in the area to see if there are any games going on...

edit: Scarecrow - where outside of Yosemite? I spent a year just outside of Oakhurst, amazing area. There isn't that much airsoft around there (at least when I was there), but I think TF50 has pretty good numbers in that area.

Up north of you, Bob. Off the 120, but I also lived just outside Oakdale & southeast of you at Bass Lake at different times. Haunted the park on an off for 3 years & loved it!

I live in a city called San Ramon, I usually go to Utaku's Feild in Galt, but I plan on going to a new field I found out about called Area 48.

Yea, it'd be bad if something broke out, but luckily the area I live in is near farmland and lots of hills, so at least I have somewhere to run.

I know San Ramon! I grew up in Walnut Creek before headding to the peninsula. There are actually more and more fields in this area, but most of them have really odd rules for snipers. I haven't been to Area 48 but their field looks interesting. That field is pretty tied up in politics though (land is owned by a San Jose city council member).

If you don't mind driving a little further there is ARC Airsoft. (Paintball field that is expanded and used for airsoft on a regular basis) http://www.arcairsoft.com/

I'm not sure how old you guy(s) are, but ARC and A48 have the same issue; "12 year-olds". Now, I'm sure that since you're both here, even if you're young youre more mature than most of these kids out there. Between the "speed queen" fillipinos that cheat all day long and the 12 year olds that cry because my $150 ASR took them out with their $1200 ARES or Right-hook; there is only so much that a guy can take.

Now, there are two fields around that are very no B.S.
The first is ORD: http://www.cqbchallenge.com/
18+ great field. Better for DMRs than BASRs probably, it can be tight at times, but there are some great nests. The only down side is that they have pretty standard sniper AoE, that is only granted on a case by case basis once you have a rep at the field. But a well tuned 400fps DMR can do some serious work.

Private field with DMR and BASR rules. They have games every weekend. I have yet to make it up there, but I troll their forums and they seem like a very no BS group of guys with some good games going on.

That's a bummer about area 48 and yea I haven't been to many different fields, only CQB city and Utakus field, but I'd prefer to go to a field with little to no 12 year olds, nothing against them, but they can get a bit annoying. I thought it was just me, but I've seen some pretty bad cheating from the run and gun Filipinos (I'm half Filipino though, so you better watch what you say, son haha). I'll have to check out that Fort ORD though, I hear it's pretty good and the age limit makes it very compelling. Vacaville is a bit out of the way, if I remember correctly, but if it's closer than that long hour and a half drive to Stockton, I'm up for it.

lol as long as you dont light me up at 5ft, inside with an AEG shooting 60 BPS with after swapping the spring after your chrono tag... and call your hits; we're cool.

The not calling your hits I can tolerate more than breaking ROE, if people dont call their hits I just get closer and aim for the face

Welcome to the forums buddy, I know the first time I used a bolt action, I never looked back either,lol.. The first airsoft gun I ever used/owned was a bolt action. I tried the aeg thing about 3 years later, nothing compares nor peaks my interest like the bolt rifles..

I normally go for neck or knuckles when someone isnt calling hit. I love leaving bloody welts on the adams apple, hahahaha.. Sometimes I get to see the dark scar at later games and laugh to myself.. :tup:

Welcome to the forum. Jeez Ranger, I'm seeing a new side to you. Either that or I live under a rock. Anyway, when people don't call their hits I somehow keep myself under control and wait until the end of the round to tell the owner who I am on good terms with, and he makes the little bastard rambo wannabees sit out. Occasionally I do aim for the flesh though, when they seem to be not following the rules but just border line within the limits. I never go for the neck or face though. Except for that one time but that's another story *evil laugh*. It's the tricky ones you should really be shooting for.

I dont go for head shots, unless they are pinning me down from behind a tree and thats the only way. I cant imagine being the guy who busts someones teeth or nothing,lol.. If the dude is wearing more face protection, I dont worry as much. I had a few teeth get shot and it sucks! I prefer to get the side or front of the neck "long range shots only" I only intend to make a point, not cripple em. Heck, I have been known for groin shots in the old days,lol.. Dont call your hits, your getting a speedbump on your weenie! I also dont run my rifles hot though either. I prefer 400-420 fps.

Don't worry about me, I know how annoying it is to have that happen, so I'd rather not have someone else go through the same frustration. I actually call my hits, plus, I no longer have an AEG. So we're good :tup:

Thanks for the welcomes guys. For me, headshots are for those guys who like to stick their head out all the time, but don't fire when they know they're being shot at. I almost never or face go for the neck and I don't deliberately try to hurt people, but if they're not going to call their hits constantly and then brag about barely getting shot and taking down a bunch of guys single handedly after a game (yes I've dealt with a couple people like that) then I have no sympathy for them.
