Hi new to air soft. Purchased a 5.1 for my son and I was wondering if it’s possible to cut the factory slide to accent the silver barrel. Something like the picture but may not be exact. Just looking for easy mods we can go ourselves for little to no cost.

You could certainly try, but you may fuck it up, so be prepared to buy a new slide.

I have a milling machine and even I wouldn't want to try that lol

If it's a some simple cuts (like holes) it would be easy to do with a drill press. Something that well cut would be quite tricky to do without decent equipment though.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the stock hicapa slides are plastic, are they not?
Couldn't you just heat up a knife or some other metal implement, melt out the holes you want and then clean them up with sandpaper?

Depends on the brand. WE/AW/KJW come with metal slides. The only big name that comes with a plastic one is the marui.

Agree with the drill press option. Once I bought my Amazon’s special drill press I made all kinds of shit. Best way to do it is to make a template and use a center punch. Then it will come out great! But hi capas are like Honda civics so I would just buy a fancy slide!
