I tried to make one of these out of straws and got too frustrated with them. I just bought a scrim. lol You gotta be lazy once in a while! But kudos to you for making it work.

I think the scrim will also work for dulling the glare from goggles, but that means I will be looking through two layers of it. Oh well. maybe I will have to make a killflash like that anyway.

 

Well, I did make an outline of the actual scope before I start making the straws. Then I glued the straws so they're a little bit wider to that outline.

The scrim sure sounds as a better idea, I'll find some and try them...

 

I wanted to make one of these because I thought it would be less obscuring to look through than another layer of fabric. I tried to incorporate mine into a homemade scope shade. Maybe I will try again and take my time. :ashamed:

 

A good way to get rid of glare on your scope is to use a scope hood. It is good for 3 reasons. 1. it stops glare when you are aiming. 2. it stops rain getting on the lens. 3. it stops reflection from the sun.

It's actually called a sun-shade, in case you/anyone else is wondering

 

Actually, my scope already have a scope hood with it. My main concern is actually the "black hole" effect. I'm playing mostly indoors so the sun's glare is nearly none.

Bit of a thread revive. Did you glue the completed kill flash into the scope to keep it from falling out? How did it perform?

Wow, how clear is that Sumta? Because it seems to do a better job of killing scope glare than the regular straws.

 

it's a little dim, but nothing i cant manage with. not blurry at all

 

Cool. I made one from the metal mesh of a broken mask (this one ) and it works great and it will stop BBs from damaging my scope with no issues at all.

 

Metal speaker grill from maplin, cut to size with snips, held in place by the butler creek lens cover (used to be on a tan painted rifle hence the colour)

2mm thick steel with approx 4mm holes.

Bomb proof!

LOL, nice touch with the Smile painted face. Hey Sumta what kind of scope is that on your SVD? I hear the G&P SVD scope is really dim, but I am not 100% sure because I have never see/used one personally

 

Its not ment to be a normal illuminated scope. You play in low light it turns the makeings white.

 

Ohh ok, so it is good in bright area's? I know when it gets to dark you turn on the Illumination and it lights up the reticle, but I mean the scope itself, is it good over all?

 

Yup. G&p one is a RS one. There might be better. But entry RS is more then enough for airsoft.

 

Ok thank you so much Sumta. Ok I have one more question "Also I am sorry if I derailed this thread" but what is better a "Airsoft Version" M3 3.5-10x50mm Non Illuminated scope + Tufforce Adjustable AK mount good or is the G&P SVD scope better?
