After reading some more, the Falcon barrel only has 8 straight grooves at the end of it for the last 4cm. The idea is that evenly expanding gas will expand around the BB creating a more stable cushion as the BB exits. Theoretically it makes sense....

I have been looking in that, however for most of us here in the US it would be illegal. As soon as you rifle the barrel it is considered a real firearm. That in itself is not the issue, the issue would be that since it would be a real firearm under the NFA, it would have to be sized as such over all. Its not illegal to make your own firearm... yet. However once there is rifling, if there is a stock, the barrel must be 16" and the OAL must be 26"... all that in addition to your local laws.

For the time being I think it would be better to focus on barrel issues/modification and custom BBs... IMO... as much as I would love to see rifled barrels, there are just too many legal issues these days in regard to having fun

That, was sarcasam, I just figured I should compose myself before responding to an anon internet posting personally insulting me without any foreknowledge, all because of a benign coment. For the record I am a real steel shooter and have been for many years. It's just that in the eyes of the court there is a very thin line, regardless of what the law actually says, and I don't think it would be going too far to say that there a no people here that have a first hand experience manufacturing airsoft from scratch and tangled with the law in the matter. So really we're all just stabbing in the dark in one form or another.
