But what if I get hungry in the field? A KFC Chicken Hopup would come in handy.
In all seriousness, what are my options as far as upgraded buckings/spacers?
But what if I get hungry in the field? A KFC Chicken Hopup would come in handy.Terrible. The bucking you listed and the barrel you listed aren't compatible, because the bucking is made for AEG barrels, and the barrel is custom cut for the stock L96 hop up chamber. Other than those issues, it sounds good. Just know that the stock hop up bucking won't stand a terribly high FPS, nor will the stock hop up unit. Firing at 550+ FPS will war the adjustment arm in the stock hop up unit and make it about as effective as using a piece of KFC chicken as a hop up unit. If you really want to go whole hog, go with an AEG barrel of your length and bore of choice, then get the PDI hop up unit. Worth the investment, trust me. Best $100 I ever spent (yay ASGI sales and forum classifieds)
Other than the barrel and bucking, to the best of my knowledge that's a solid set up.
Are there any cheaper routes?PDI hop unit is the best option, it comes with a spacer/nub, and the bucking I would recommend is a prometheus hard type in conjunction with an ER-hop.
Finally somewhere that has those in stock. Thanks! These don't require any special nubs do they?If you don't want to spend the 100 bucks or so that is costs to buy a pdi hop up, I'd say get a metal hop up arm for your L96, it may not have the same air seal and all, but it does replace the crappy plastic arm that bends after a while or snaps from accidental over tightening.

This is probably the cheapest alternative to upgrading your hop up without having to spend $100
