IMO
I would say a 5 out of 10, stock (low price is not accounted for). Its not garbage but you need to take it with a grain of salt. Its price has no bearing on its performance, its just easier to obtain. I would consider modding it first, you can undo most and you should consider some of the mods even if you install after market parts. Since its not a clone of one particular gun you may find issues with aftermarket parts. If it was a 100% clone I would have given it a 6. As a base, its not a bad choice. A BAR-10 would be better (performance wise) but its a simple choice if you want a L96 and not a M24 (M700). I would do my homework on after market parts and see what is available, you maybe looking down a dead end street. You're boned, if you can only replace wear parts with stock parts when they are available. You also need to think about how long the aftermarket parts are going to be around. For example, if TM were to stop making VSR-10s the parts market, in general, would shrink regardless of how many JG BAR-10s were continued to be made.
Plus side:
cheap
480FPS
plenty of online DIY mod guides
Cons:
QC
part compatibility (big deal)
requires mods and aftermarket parts
