6.04 barrel vs stock barrel on the well l96 using 0.36g bbs shooting 500fps?

Lower the FPS. That will improve groupings significantly.

If you can't hit the broad side of a barn at 300 feet, it is probably useless at 150 feet. If I can hit within an inch at 150 feet, I can probably hit someone at 300 feet. Ergo, improve groupings and receive range. Lower FPS will increase your effective range a bit anyway.
