Hi everybody I've got a new ares striker as02 for starting with the role of sniper.

Can you help me to upgrade its internal parts to reach 0.99J and at least 60m of distance please?

N.B.: I'm from italy so here the max power of Joule is 0.99

What's the current energy output on your chosen ammo weight?

I would be shocked if you aren't already at 1j or above already
0.30g 0.85j I reach 35m-40m with:
  • decepticon 70° hopup rubberù
  • std spring with tape for reduce the noice
  • dmac airbrake for reduce noise
  • action army hop up chamber
  • action army 6.01 inner barrell 300mm

Would be better a 50° on a sniper rifle, or not?
50* is really low for a 2021 bucking, and the older buckings are not very good.
I recommend 70* 2021 a lot as it works best in my MK23 which is about 1J

I'm going to have to contradict what silicone sword said

My experience is that the 2020 bucking are better than the 2021 ones. My local experience from other folks at my field is that their were quality control issues on the "new" 2021 maple leaf buckings. They may have resolved it by now, but almost no one I know are willing to give it another go at this point.

We also have had alot of other aspiring italian airsofters here. Understand at 1J, you're usually handicapped as compared to other AEG players.

I hit a 290mm circle at 50m about 7/25 shots, and I hit that same target like 20/25 shots at 35m.
That is with a pistol while standing, and with the long and heavy MK23 trigger pull that is well known and well hated.
Also done with the not so great Novritsch fiber optic iron sights.

@AsianGuy I get that, but the change of buckings from a 60* Autobot Macaron to a 70* Autobot 2021 doubled the amount of shots on target in my VSR, which was pretty dang built out until I started the process of making the VSR-SS.
Bucking, hop, and barrel stuff is very opinionated, but the difference I saw(changing only the bucking) was like going from .30 at 3J to .48 at 3J, pretty awesome for me.

At 1j/0.99 I would stick to .32g BB anything heavier will be to easy to dodge as it will move to slow. But up to you.
Make sure you have a great airseal than get a spring to bring you upto the 0.99j limit,

I have heard the striker series can be hit or miss with the AA chamber as doesn't always seal right.

I have just upgraded/tuned a striker as02 from a friend and the only thing i changed was the bucking to a stock tm one and made the hop up lever tight and centered with tape. The gun was shooting stock 1.7J and could not hit anything at 20m, now hitting a person consistently at 70m with .32 bb's which is also it's max range without aiming upwards.
I think you only need to change your power and make your hop lever tight so it doesn't moves side to side.
I would say for accuracy, make sure everyting is snug and perfectly alligned and seals good I had a couple fps variance and sealed perfectly while sealing the barrel and shooting.
For range i do recommend heavier bb's, the heavier the bb the further it travels. As long as your hop can lift it and without losing joules. My mk23 shot the same distance as his sniper because i was shooting with .4 at 1.2J (He was curious about the mk23 because he wants a new sidearm).

I tested this but it's actually not completely true. A heavier bb starts slower but remains his speed better so at a certain distance a heavier bb will travel faster and eventually catch up. I tried this and when you have good reflexes you can easily dodge anything from about 30m but this was face to face trying to dodge it :)) There is an app called airsoft ballistics calculator where you can calculate this I do think this is quite correct.
But yes in 1J builds I do like .32 better, it does have a great starting fps and is quite accurate at range while keeping good momentum at range. For 1J I would use anything around .3 for the most range I would recommend .4 but depends on your play style and if you only want to take long shots beyond 30-40m otherwise a .32 will suite you better.

My goal is to reach 60 meters with 1j power is it possible?

So for achieve long distances should i use heavier bbs like 0.4?

Yes, I am aware heavier BBs reach longer distances faster but at 1j I'm guessing their is no MED so the little advantage at range doesn't really beat the disadvantage at close range in my mind for this scenario, a quick check on the ballistic app shows the crossover for an advantage for the .40 is roughly over 150ft for 1j.
Considering that's roughly 45 metres, that means he would be shooting slower/at a disadvantage for 3/4 of his requested range of 60m.

And we've all been in situations where you can see and dodge a BB coming at you where it's run out of energy, whilst rare they do happen. (Although as snipers we just tend to see them fall short of us)

Ahhh yes, I love that ballistics calculator, it's actually surprisingly accurate.

I recommend .36 if you want the best amount of speed and range, as a .4? at 1J seems pretty much useless for anything but target shooting.

As for range, 60m will be doable, but 50m will be where you can hit a person most of the time.

What I have done for my ASO2 shooting @ 340fps for QCB:
  • Cut bridged on barrel
  • Inncreased hop window size for Modify bucking
  • 60 degree Modify Xrange (sealed better than Mapleleaf buckings)
  • AA AS02 hop adjustment wheel: without it, I would loose hop ajustment after 3-5 shots.
  • Gunsmithy hop arm with wide nub.
  • .32s can hit a 5 gallon bucket @ 50m consistantly.
