Its to get rid of the oil and powder left over from the manufacturing process.
High quality ammo normally has less crud left on them. Generally where you will see difference is shooting over 100ft
I cleaned out my rifle last night after the game on Sunday. I was getting some pretty decent. I got a kill at around 75m or so.

When cleaning the barrel and hop up I did see a lot of tan residue on the nub and down the inside of the barrel. Is this normal after washing bbs or have they degraded to much? If thats possible?

sorry didnt notice the post till now. assuming you didnt was biodegradable BB's, there would still be some rub off. you are sending a object 500 fps along another object. can you say road rash? lol
This was with tan Madbull 0.40s. True but wouldnt this build up start "caking" on the nub after a while as well as fowling the barrel more than usual?
