Building this because there really is not a guide on how to do this. Just a board on what others have done. So I decided to snap a few photo's as I built this.

It depends how much time you have and what quality you want.

DO NOT DO THIS WITH BIO-DEGRADABLE BB'S
It will start the process for breaking them down and god knows what you will be left with.

Where to start:
Great:Step 1
Good:Step 5
Fast:Step 6
What you will need:
Container to wash in
BB's
Strainer
Towel or old sock
Dish soap
Suger free coke or cheap denture cleaner (coke has more acid then pepsi)
Step 1:
Gather your tools

Step 2:
Put your BB's in the container and pour in the coke. You may have to do this slowly to allow for the coke/denture cleaner to filter down through them

p.s. warn you room mates not to drink it.

Step 3:
If your using coke: Wait 12 hours
If your using cheap denture cleaner: Wait 4 hours

Step 4:
Pour in water and flush out the coke/denture cleaner

Step 5:
Add dish soap and mix it in, should only take 2 - 3 minutes

Step 6:
Rinse

Step 7:
Put all your little baby's out to dry, after 15 to 30 min I palm them and move them around to make sure they are drying in a single layer and completely.

Step 8:
Use a little dish soap and water and clean out the inside of the container you will be store your ammo in.

Step 9:
I like to mark and date my cleaned ammo. Just cleaned them, no reason to let them get mixed up.

FAQS:

Q:Would it be better to let air dry or to put another towel on top and move the towel with your hands so it rolls around the bb's as it dries them? Because of calcium/who-knows-what left on the BB's due to evaporation.
A:Maybe. But it is probably a marginal difference. Main reason to wash bb's is to remove the borax reagent from the moulding process.

Q:Why not use normal coke?
A:The sugar will make the bb's sticky

Q:I cant say I see any difference? What should I be looking out for?
A:Its to get rid of the oil and powder left over from the manufacturing process.
High quality ammo normally has less crud left on them. Generally where you will see difference is shooting over 100ft

What would this do to tracer bbs? or is it not advisable?
Not a clue. If your willing to test was a small batch of 20rd or so, I can update this with what happens.

Great guide, but you forgot to mention washing out the bottle!! Lol

There is always some residual oils/mold release/polish in the bottle so it's a good idea to wash it out well too :)

Again, good guide! I never noticed there wasn't one with pics.
Ya.... :looks down:..... ya...

I forgot to add that part. When I get to a computer I will add that in to wash and rinse.

I like what you are doing with the Q and A and the bottom of the OP. Keeping everything clear and concise in the OP makes the whole thing look better.

Good job.
Thank you :) Ya I do technical writing in school so when laying something out you assume they know NOTHING. lol

add how to use denture cleaner in the guide

Why bump it?
because, even though there are several requests from people to switch the sticky to this one, it gets burried on page 3 or 4 and people dont read all of the other sticky to find this one.

My question is the following: how safe is it to leave the bbs in denture cleaner for 4 hours? I'm asking because the box says 3 minutes for dentures and bbs are not exactly dentures.
I dont use denture cleaner myself. One of the more advanced players do. BUT i base it on the same principle as coke, just much more effective acids and chemicals.

ever clean a penny in coke? leave it in over night and it will be bright and new. throw in a old tooth, it will be about 75% it's starting size and dark brown.

BB's are a bit tougher to chemicals then our own teeth. Just remember dont wash bio-degradable (spend the extra on double polished).

I washed my Madbull 0.40g tan bbs, the old ones. TBH I cant say I see any difference? I have also washed my bucking as well. What should I be looking out for?

I cleaned out my rifle last night after the game on Sunday. I was getting some pretty decent. I got a kill at around 75m or so.

When cleaning the barrel and hop up I did see a lot of tan residue on the nub and down the inside of the barrel. Is this normal after washing bbs or have they degraded to much? If thats possible?
sorry didnt notice the post till now. assuming you didnt was biodegradable BB's, there would still be some rub off. you are sending a object 500 fps along another object. can you say road rash? lol

This was with tan Madbull 0.40s. True but wouldnt this build up start "caking" on the nub after a while as well as fowling the barrel more than usual?
First time I have heard of this one. Any other players have any exp? Could be one of the reasons they stopped the tan version

Excuse the necro but would coke not pit the bb's? Or is this the point, to get the golfball effect?
I carry the link in my sig and I maintain this thread. No such thing as necro here.

If you leave it in the coke or cleaner to long it will pit. But sometimes that is also how you can id poor quailty bbs.

Why coke then? What benefits does it have over water?
Suger free coke has a high acid content. Coke has more the pepsi.
You want suger free that way your ammo wont turn sticky after rinsing.

The acid helps break down the reagent used during the moulding process.

I am wondering, if this would help with every brand of BBs?

I use .28 King Arms and .28 G&G BBs with every Rifle...
Would it help washing these BBs, because they are the best quality BBs I know, and this weight is great for sniping, better than the .30 and .40 Speedballs/Madbull that I used...

With much greetings
Joey
Every little bit helps. Even if they did have 20 Chinese children buffing them as they went down the line. Shipping. On a shelf. Bouncing through shipping 4 more times. That would cause a tumbler effect and make there own dust. That first wash helps.
