Iffy Mag Catch/release

I finally got my Bar 10 in the mail today. It was used, and while I was getting it out of the box, the button and square piece that holdsthe mag in place fell out. I put them back in, and now I have to push the mag in to keep it secure, rather than just sliding it in. Is this common, or did i put the pieces in wrong?

I tried spinning the button around, and it wouldn't work either way. I contacted the previous owner, and he said it was like that when he had it. I replaced the spring with one that was slightly longer, and now it's working great.
