I've been keeping an eye on this rifle for awhile. One of the concerns I've had with it is the stock breaking like the fortress ones so... I posted a question to Ares on their Facebook page. This left me with more questions than answers. Apparently there are going to be 3 versions of this rifle?

I'm sorry if anyone has been misled by the original post. See included thumbnail pic. This was Ares response to my question. I'm actually more confused now then I was before I asked the question. I was made to believe Ares was producing the rifle in two forms. (1) stock (2) rifle fitted with real steel stock. WTF is option 3 and will the original stock break like the fortress stocks for the VSR's? In conclusion...I wasn't aware if anyone had heard about this info and figured I would share it. A search turned up the same results as before so I figured I might be the first to recieve this information.

Really don't expect much...! It will definitely look good but performance wise it will not be that good.

I'm guessing the options will be ..
A) gun with Ares stock
B) just the gun w/ no stock
C) Custom bedding service to a stock of your choice.

Ya I've been paying attention to this too. I was thinking of getting one if they were released in Canada but ares rifles aside from maybe the dsr1 are wall hangers. Not to insult them but I think that their stock service will be bad too I mean personally I would never buy a 300-800$ stock along with the rifle an have too wait god knows how long to receive it and this is if the service would be available too me, in Canada the cost of that... Would be cheaper to buy a socom gear Barrett.

The DSR-1 is no different; I've owned one. If I bought an Ares, it would just be a plain AW338 with an HPA rig, but then again, you could just get a Tanaka and make it a lot better.

Thats actually pretty useful information. I was looking into the Ares (spring) l96 and noticed a lack of owners/reviews. Should I make another thread on that or is there a reason why nobody has one?
There are some people that have them, but most don't buy them because they're so expensive and they really aren't anything special for the price. You can trick out a KJW M700 for half the price and it would shoot way better. I've never experienced or heard anything about their spring rifles though.
