What's your opinion on inner barrels? What's the best metal; brass, steel, aluminum? What sizes work best? What are your experiences with the barrels you've used? What brands? What lengths? What were the best and worst results you've had?

455-500 Brass 6.03-6.05 I like Promy barrels 6.03 Worst barrel I had is stock barrels. Quick and to the point.

I personally like Prometheus 6.03s from 430-500 long, though the best barrel I ever used was a PDI 6.05 bull barrel that was only 303 mm long, in a gspec, sooo.......

It all really depends on what you are wanting to do with the rifle you are putting the barrel into


I have had some really good PDI, laylax, Madbull, EdGi, and DB custom inner barrels. And all of them were different lengths, from 280mm out to 575mm, as well as different inner diameter.

They all worked and they all didn't work. Like I said in the beginning, it all depends on the system that the barrel is in, and how you are wanting to use it.


And the other thing that you will have to consider with a question like this ....... is that every one has a different set of "what is good, and what is crap". Everyone is going to assess the barrels differently.

I like Promytheus and PDI, I was disappointed with the Madbull, so far I've used long barrels 455-800mm.

Actually, everyone has said steel so far... Prometheus and PDI are both steel, as are the laylax barrels, and *I think* the madbulls are too...

Madbull is coated Aluminum if memory serves.

Personally, PDI, Prommy, Laylax, EDGI.

Oh, I thought Prometheus was brass. Is steel supposed to be more slick or straight?

Steel is harder, so it reduces wear on the barrel.

EdGI IB;s are nice, but you can only get them in brass AFAIK. T_T

KM HEAD inners are good for the money. Fairly sure they are the only ''budget'' steel barrel.

Vanaras also makes budget steel barrels.

One of the main benefits of steel is that when used in bull barrels, it is significantly heavier than other barrel materials which leads to less vibrations.

I have had great success with anywhere between 450 and 509 in length. I have a 590 in my MB05 right now and it didnt increase any performance other than dropping my FPS by 20 but it looks cool and is still deadly so I keep it in there.

To add to the material conversation Brass is a harmonic metal (think trumpets and such) hence it carries way more vibration than a stainless steel barrel. Since I have nothing better to do right now I am planning on purchasing some lesser quality barrels made by some of the cloe manufacturers to see how they compare to some of the more midrange barrels out there like deepfire. I am not trying to reinvent the wheel so I will not be comparing them to PDI as we all know they are in the top tier

509mm Prommy 6.03mm barrels are fine. I'm actually surprised at how good my 6.05mm stock JG brass barrel is on my JG G36.

I like my PDI 6.01 steel barrel (430mm); however, I have to clean it quite often. I want to get another barrel in 6.03 and compare the two. I can place a BB on top of another at 50 ft, which is good enough for me. Also, the barrel has no scratches in it after 2 years of use because I use quality ammo I guess.
