I recently traded off my old suppressor I had on my M28. It was foam filled and made my rifle WAY quiet! I had a short barrel and I was just thinking. If I was to install a shorter inner barrel "maybe 4 inches shorter" in my Bar10 and then foam fill the outer barrel to the end, it would end up with the same effects. We had a recent discussion about shorter barrels not having less effective range and accuracy so it almost sounds perfect!

So with the integral suppressed barrel, a cut shorter spring and the rubber on the cylinder head "inside the cylinder" wouldnt that make the ultimate suppressed rifle? I am thinking about doing this, and one of the hopup mods we have been discussing.

I also have been seeing a hopup rebuild idea in my head lately. I wont say much more about it till I work out the kinks a little more.

Contemplated doing something similar myself but I dont feel like buying a new inner barrel, I imagine as long as you´re able to properly center the barrel there shouldn´t be any problems with BBs striking the end cap, . The idea I had was to use chicken wire to form a cylinder around an aeg spring(for stability) wich you would then wrap with cotton/jute or another appropriate material and slide in to the outer barrel. Of course making sure to center it so the BBs won´t strike it.

Though, if you are able to get your hands on those foam rings usually found in airsoft suppressors you could probably just slide those down the outer barrel. But I´ve had the best damping effect with coarse jute fabric.

Here´s my amazing paint drawing of the idea.
Blue being the inner barrel, red the spring and gray the chicken wire.
And green of course the material of choice to absorb that annoying excess sound.

If you can successfully create an integral suppressor I don't see why not, but from my experience it isn't necessary due to the MEDs snipers are usually allowed to shoot.

If you have done a plethora of mods involving suppression then at about 100ft it should be dead silent.

If you have those same mods and add an integral suppressor, then it would go from silent to... silent  lol.

My rifle, when dropped to 400FPS w/ 0.43g BBs and no external/internal suppressor, is dead silent at 50ft. Absolutely no audible sound except the 'whizzz' of a BB.

This is slightly off topic, but people occasionally ask how my rifle is so quiet, so here are five integral points I believe are the most important:

  1. BB weight
  2. FPS (measured w/ 0.2g of course)
  3. Sealing open spaces (Even your trigger box!! A LOT of sound comes out from there :yup:)
  4. Stock fillings
  5. Inner Barrel Spacers
IMHO, BB weight is the most crucial at reducing sound. If you've never tried 0.43g BBs then you don't know how quiet your rifle can be!! >:D

Going back to the integral silencer...

There's nothing negative about it assuming you executed the construction to near perfection. Although, I still consider it to be a "cherry on top"; absolutely not necessary, but still nice to have .

It isn't really integral, but still effective nonetheless. that has worked for me in the past, I see no reason it won't work for you.
Its exactly integral, I dont understand why you say it wouldnt be,lol.. its a build in the barrel suppressor.. thats what integral is. Like the Vss and other integral suppressors.

I use 40g bb's so yeah the heavier ammo helps, I had the long foam filled suppressor on the M28 and that alone made that sucker dead quiet, and I have an assortment of different length inner barrels to fool around with so its all just using stuff I already have. I have a large chunk of couch cushion foam cause my dog was mad ond tore the shit out of the couch one day,lmao.. I almost beat it to death! I came home from a docs appointment, me and the ole lady came in the house and foam was everywhere!!! So I ended up keeping the foam for whatever ideas I could come up with.

I plan to wrap the inner barrel with the foam since I already need to make inner barrel spacers for this since it came with one super awesome crappy one,lol..
I will go ahead and start on it and post the pics etc... In my Bar10/M28 picture thread.
